  1. I'm a qualified nurse, born and bred in England, who has numerous qualifications including a batchelors degree with hons, post grad diploma plus other nursing qualifications but yet I seemed to have "failed" the reading and listening IELTS! It's so bloody frustrating!

I couldn't actually believe it! This now means I need to re-sit and pay them another £150!

Can any one please advise or give any hints/tips of how to get a better score in reading and listening?!

My my results are as follows -

    L - 6.5

    R - 6.5

    W - 8.0

    S - 9.0

overall - 7.5 (not that means much)

Any guidance or experiences much appreciated

    thanks sam xx

    Hi Sam,

I've just posted some time-saving tips for the IELTS Reading test here, and you can find some tips for the IELTS Listening test here.

    Good luck,

  2. At the moment it says on the Department of Immigration website that only IELTS and OET are accepted.

    It says...

You can receive 10 points for ‘proficient’ English and 20 points for ‘superior’ English. You must provide evidence of:

[*=1] Proficient English: a score of 7 on each of the four components of speaking, reading, listening and writing in an IELTS test, or a score of B on each of the four components of an OET

[*=1] Superior English: a score of 8 on each of the four components of speaking, reading, listening and writing in an IELTS test, or a score of A on each of the four components of an OET.

Just an update on this, it now says on the Department of Immigration website that other English language tests are also accepted: IELTS, OET, TOEFL iBT, PTE and CAE.

  3. I am currently applying for 190 visa. Does anyone know if the English Test PTE is now recognised for my visa application?

    Hi

You can do a search for IELTS test centres here if the one nearest you is fully booked for the next test.

    Good luck,

    Pete

  4. I'd be grateful if anyone could let know of any useful and effective resources they recommend for the GENERAL IELTS.

Check out my free IELTS course at www.freeieltscourse.com.

The course contains IELTS Writing Task 2 lessons and sample answers that are useful for IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training candidates.
