  1. Hello again Stephanie.

Least said about that advice from DIAC in London the better ...

I believe you exchanged emails with our Marina Towner last September regarding strategy? Would you like me to ask her to telephone you?

    Best regards.

that would be brilliant alan if you could, its all so confusing to me! i remember email her but chris said he was sorting things out at the time with a sponsor which never happened in the end :( shall I inbox u my number x

  2. I think hairdresser is on CSOL list 2 which needs state sponsorship. However I think you'd need NVQ level 3 to be classed as equivalent to the Aussie qualification and TRA require 3 years post qualification experience. I could be wrong though so maybe it's worth looking into?

I only qualified july in my level 2 x

  3. You usually find if you phone round some migration agents they'll run through your details and give you some advice before you sign up. I'm pretty sure your husband would need the aqf. Mines has 15 years experience with no formal qualifications in floor fitting and was told he would need it. I was lucky enough to have all my qualifications as a hairdresser so decided to apply on that.x

im also a hairdresser with my nvq 2 but were not on the sol list anymode so obtaing a 189 in my trade is now impossible, chris has already spent 4 months out on the gold coast and came home for xmas, hes going back April, hes currently on a WHV X

  4. thanx for that alan, it was the immigration dept in london who advised me he wouldnt need his aqf due to his experiance, ovsl we have looked down the 457 route too but it does seem difficult to obtain sponsorship for a plasterer as to why were now looking 189. if I sent you Christopher's cv could u advise me on what were best to do reguading our situation, im also a hairdresser with my nvq 2 but im not on the sol list which is why chris will try and obtain a visa x

  5. hello. were quite new to the who visa applications so pls bear with me! were wanting to go to oz on a 189 were now looking into our first step which iv been told would be to get my partners skills assessest via TRA as there is a back log, hes a plasterer by trade, iv had conversations with the immi in london and was advised to do this first, im rather confused tho, how do we go about this? chris (my partner) does not have a nvq in the trade but has 10yrs experience. where do we start getting this done? all help and advice will be great x

  7. hello. my partner has been in oz a month now looking for plastering work but with no luck as yet! im a qualified L2 hairdresser, im 25 so i do see myself as quite young with a lot more to give and also learn. whats my chances of sponsorship? any help or advise would be brill. thanx steph x

  8. Me again . . I know exactly which agent you are talking about and we met them in oz in August, they are very expensive and if you want to go for pm as well it will cost you about $15000, what you were quoted is about double what you should be paying. They will find you a sponsor BUT you deal with contracts etc, that really don't do much for the money apart from ringing the agencies which you can do for free.

thanx for that. its a agency called "this is australia" its the first agency we spoke to so not 100% to whats the best price! have u come by a good but cheaper agent? x

  9. You say you are looking for an agent to start the process but it seems like you don't have the job yet? If so you need to be looking for a job not an agent, then he employer might have their own choice of agent.

And $7.5k sounds very high indeed. I would avoid like the plague.

with chris being a plasterer we have been advised that getting sponsor can be hard to come by! the people from the agency 'this is australia' said if he cannoct find his own that they also enquire also! i am going to look round online for prices. x

  10. hello, my partner is currently on a WHV on gold coast, were now looking into using a agent to start our 457 process, now chris is a plasterer so we knew it would be hard to get a sponsor by ourself! i attended 'down under live' yesterday and got really useful info off a agent who is actually bases on the gold coast! she said we submitt chris's cv to them, they find him a sponsor who agrees to pay the $51000 a year, they do the visa application for us, altho all this was to cost $7500. its the first contact we have had with a agent as ye, but was wondering if anyone else used a agent to help with 457 and how much was it?

  11. hello,my partner is due to come out to Queensland (runaway bay) in 4 weeks.he a plasterer here in the uk and this is what hes coming to oz to try and do, ALTHO almost every company iv emailed reguading a succor job for him iv had no reply! hes coming out on a WHV as this was the quickest way he could get out there, we soooo desperate to get out there, im staying here in the uk with our children while hes there we are hopeing he can get some kind of sponsor for us as a family unit but now im thinking its impossible as no1 has replied to any emails. im hopeing its because hes in the uk still and there after some1 on Australian turf. any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. steph xx

  12. hello. my partner had to do is whv via post as he is coming out alone and leavin me and our children in the Uk, even by post it was granted within 2 weeks, within that time i had to see solicitors ect so it happened pretty quick! its a lot faster online, but dont go to 3 party companies, use the immi.gov.au site as they only take £190 off u unlike other companies! reguading having the funds we have not been asked to see proof, weather or not they will at the immigration dept at the airport i dont no! we were advised by the immigration in london not to book flights untill its been granted! we booked his flight the same day we had an email confirming it had been granted! , its a good idea to give the aus immigration in london a call there really helpfull. its also worth lookin at flights via travel supermarket. we had a few quotes direct and they wanted £800 and we managed to get 1 for £650 by using travel supermarket, london heathrow are the cheapher flights x
