  1. Hi littlekitty, I'm currently in Aus on an e676 which I applied for here (in Aus), when it became apparent that the 309/100 wasn't going to be granted before my evisitor expired (I already had this from a trip last Christmas - didn't expect to be back here so soon!!). I checked with my CO and spoke to someone in immigration here first, but all was straightforward, applied online and granted in less than 24 hrs. No problems coming in on evisitor originally, I didn't get asked a single question!!

  2. Hi,

Wondered if anyone could help answer this question? I'm currently in Aus on an evisitor waiting for my 309/100 (applied offshore in June) to be processed. Done through agency (via husband's work) but not finding them very helpful or proactive - just declined to give me my new COs contact details :-(

When the visa is ready to be granted how much notice will I be given? I obviously need to get offshore but don't want to book flights if the date is then going to change. How have others managed this?

Also just to confirm that if a 100 is granted that I still have to be offshore? On the immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/how-to-apply.htm it says

"You must be outside Australia when:

    · you apply for this visa

    · your Partner (temporary) visa (subclass 309) is granted.

You may be either in or outside Australia when your Partner (permanent) visa (subclass 100) is granted."

    - is this just if the 100 is granted a couple of years after your 309?

    Thanks, Fiona

Managed to speak to my new case officer last night (RN, replacement for MC). Contact number was on MCs answering machine message. She was really patient and helpful. Not able to give me definite grant date but hoping for about 6 months after my application date in early June. She said I can apply for a tourist visa (I think 676) and stay onshore (my evisitor expires at the end of November!). They will notify me by email when it's ready to be granted and I can make arrangements to leave. It wouldn't matter if I was onshore on that date, the 309/100 visa would be activated when I left and I'd then come back in on it.

And she told me it would be a 100 - hooray :-)

Ems4321: Re granting 100 vs 309 I believe they look at length of relationship, but not sure if other factors are also taken into account. We've been married 7 years. Re working on WHV while waiting for 309/100 to be processed, I'm not sure.

  4. Hi all

New to this but hoping someone can help and perhaps give us some pointers. My husband is an Australian citizen and we have been together 7 years, living together 6 and married earlier this year. He has been offered a really good contract for work out there so we are looking at going to aus with me applying for a partner visa.

My job is quite specialist so we weren't hopeful of finding a job for me in the area where he has been offered work. As it turns out, I got an offer through within six days of first speaking to an employment agent over there. The issue we have is that they want me to start mid January and we are now told that the visa processing time could be 8-9 months. We have had confirmation that the co has received all of the evidence etc they need (we sent certified copies of bank statements for joint account, joint life policy docs etc ) but won't be drawn on any way to expedite the application process.

Dont want to lose the opportunity of my job but don't think I will be able to get them to keep the vacancy open for me for as long as the visa will take.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in a similar situation, but it looks as if the job I was hopeful of will still be available when my visa is (hopefully!) granted. With hindsight, I might have looked more into other possible options, although the partner visa gives me the most flexibility going forwards. Other visa classes I think would have been granted more quickly, and therefore in terms of money, although the upfront cost would have been higher, I would have been able to work and earn more quickly. If your job is specialised, is there a chance that you and your skills are valuable enough for them to wait for you? Would they sponsor you? It will depend on which parts of the equation are most important to you and your husband, eg being in the same country, finances, route to residency etc. Fiona

  5. wow, greeneyes, congratulations!! Exciting news for you, and for me also,as we submitted within a day of each other according to the dave s spreadsheet! Our case officer (mc) is now leaving however, and her replacement won't arrive til next week,so hopefully we will be granted soon.

    Congrats again! X

    katy

Hi Katy, I think I have the same CO (MC) as you. How did you find out she was leaving? I submitted through an agent in June and she hasn't told me anything about this. Thanks, Fiona

  6. So did you have a return ticket happyviolet? I have only been out of the country for the last 5 months after spending 2 years there on a working holiday so it might raise some eyebrows thats why i thought a return ticket would look better. Some people have said to book a return and some people have said that it will be fine not to! so still not sure where im at!

I did have a return (promised my parents we'd be in UK this Xmas!) but I don't think the guy at immigration would have been able to tell, and he didn't ask! I'm just back from a week in new Zealand and had exactly the same experience coming through immigration on my return to Aus - barely looked at my passport or landing card, and no questions!

  7. Hey guys,

Congratulations on all of the recent visa grants!!

Just wanted to ask...i have been granted my tourist visa and intend to fly back to aus in 2 weeks and spend the rest of the time(2-3 months) with my partner, then fly out to new zealand and back in etc. But my question was..Is it ok to book a one way ticket there as i wont need it to come back to the uk as ill be flying to new zealand for my pmv to be granted. Has anybody had much trouble with immigration when doing this. Its not a huge issue and i could just buy a return ticket but its a waste of money! I will be carrying evidence of funds for a couple of thousand and a letter of invitation from my fiance stating he will be supporting me fully, also proof that weve lodged a pmv application. Do you think it will cause any problems?

    Thank you

I think you'll be fine if my recent experience is anything to go by. I'm in a similar situation - in Aus at the moment on a tourist visa while waiting for my partner visa (lodged in UK) to be processed. I filled in the landing card stating I was planning to stay for 3 months, and the reason for visiting was to stay with family. I was anticipating questions at immigration but didn't get asked a single thing, not even which family member I was staying with!

  8. I posted my spouse application, and also my son's application by descent last Monday. Can anyone please tell me if the Embassy acknowledges receipt and when they usually do this? Also what is the current approximate waiting time? I front loaded my police check if that makes a difference.

This is all a bit scarey!

I posted my application for 309/100 in June (via an agent through my husband's work), also front loaded with police check. I had a letter about a week later, via the agent, confirming receipt and allocation of a CO. This also asked me to go for a medical and gave me the relevant info to organise this. It quoted waiting time of 5-6 months.

  9. Hi,

The service described on your website sounds great. We had pretty much abandoned plans to bring our beloved Subaru. Which group would you place it in, although I think we'll go ahead anyway! It's also got new brakes and suspension - does that make any difference?

1 - Subaru impreza WRX AWD turbo 2.0l petrol, 54k miles, aircon present

    2 - £4000

    3 - AUS$17000

    Thanks, Fiona
