Hi, been a while since I logged on as I've been settling in and enjoying my married life in Oz but I wonder if anyone can give me a bit of advice please. I came to Oz a couple of years ago after getting remarried and am at the second stage of my visa being processed to permanent. I am loving Australia and am happy settling in with a great job and my family here but I do miss my family back home. My youngest son was originally going to emigrate with me but he stayed in the UK as he was in full-time education and then ended up having a major spinal operation that stopped him from flying. What I'd like to know is whether with him having been in education all this time at college whether there is anyway that he could come as a my dependent child even though he has been staying with his dad the last two years? He is 19 due to turn 20 next month. My eldest son is here at the moment on his second whv and is hoping to do a student visa next and eventually stay as an enrolled nurse, as he has worked in aged/disability care and enjoys it. He is currently doing the whv to save money for this as its pretty expensive as an international student. Be glad of any advice

My visa was pretty straight forward. In a de facto relationship for 17 years,so as long as my medical and criminal records were fine I was confident. I say if all your application is in and they don't require any more info then after 3 months has passed its worth asking for an update. By the way my CO has initials DP
Congratulations and good luck with the move. I feel real lucky that I've got DP as my CO too.

I hope it comes through soon. My husband leaves this coming Tuesday for Oz and we will apply in December for our visa. Means the kids and I won't see him until at least 6 months probably closer to 9 months.
Is no funny being apart... haven't seen my partner for almost a year. Will be so glad to hear the words.. visa approved!

Woohoo, visa approved on Tuesday!! We submitted the application on 15/05 and were allocated case worker AB. My OH gave him a buzz to chase it up and he processed it while they were on the phone - hooray!! So four months exactly. One thing down, a million things left to do!
Congratulations! Must be great to know you've got it and start planning for the move. All the best in Oz.

Ah, that's a shame. But still it shouldn't change things too much. Plus that way you can catch the end of the summer in Aus. And I wouldn't worry about having your visa by then, you must be literally weeks, if not days, away now.
Must be such a terrific feeling when you get told that the visa has been approved. Fingers crossed PurpleDonna hears something soon.

Sent app - 3/9/2011
monies taken - 5/9/2011
CO (AB contacted us for more information including: medicals for hubby and 2 non migrating children, police check for hubby and non migrating child who turns 17 before the visa will be granted, proof of continuing relationship 09-11.
Also advised 5-6 months waiting time for approval.
Started on pulling it together and booked medicals as don't want to waste any time!
Just want to go!!!!!!
Good luck!

Visa Applied for 28/7/11... Money taken 5/8/11... CO assigned 10/8/11 (DP).. Medical passed 10/8/11... VISA APPROVED ......
I am so glad to have come across this forum as it is so great to have some idea of timelines and read the comments of others. I spoke my CO on Wed and he confirmed that he has now received my police checks so I guess now its just a case of waiting.

I would be really surprised if anyone that gets DP has to wait longer than four months. His mo seems to be for four or under.
I have DP and it is really encouraging to see this comment. Have spoken to him a couple of times on the phone and he has been very, polite and helpful so fingers crossed I get mine before 4months are up.
Migration Agent... Who would you recommend?

I had a look on this forum a few days ago and saw that Go Matilda were highly recommended and my son emailed them and they contacted him within a few hours. Can't say any more than that as its early days for his queries but hopefully we have got in touch with the right company. But I will keep a note of the other names and pass them on to him too. This forum in invaluable for advice!
