  1. Hello Everyone

I'll really appreciate if someone can please help.

We applied 173 Visa in November 2016 and got request for more documents in October 2022. Everything was submitted in 2 weeks time period and then Immi asked for further Medical checks and that was submitted in December 2022. After submitting Medicals again, their is no communication from Immi. Is this normal? Or should we try to contact them and ask what's going on?

  2. Hi Everyone

We got request to submit more documents and they provide us an email parents@homeaffairs.com.au to submit documents. After submitting all the documents, i received automated email which says Not to submit any documents on this email address and their is immigration link in that email where they want those  documents. Do i need to submit again through that link, if anyone can help please

Hey everyone, someone on a forum I follow said he was contacted today to provide further docs, AoS, etc. The thing is he lodged 143 on 06/2018. How is this possible? He said its not switching from 173 -> 143. It was a straight 143 application

My Parents are also onshore on 600.  We applied 173 in 2016. We were never asked for further documents. Still waiting.

Hi - please see my timeline as I applied for 173 - the only reason was because at that time it was a waitlist of 18 to 24 months (not true I waited 4 years) and in addition I didn't have all my funds for a 143 but did for 173 at that time....in hindsight it was the best option for me - the timeline was around the same timing like the 143 applications at my time in fact a few months quicker - the advantage is that I am able to apply for the conversion to 143 whilst being onshore so I have been able to start my new life - get a job, medicare on the temp visa. I have 2 years to convert but I chose to do it asap only being here 10 months - the only disadvantage is that it cost $4,260 (£2,434) more, but for me it was worth it.

    Hi Marilyn

Just want to know if You went for medicals twice or just once in whole process from 173 to 143 grant.

    Thanks

    Hi All,

This might not be related to this forum however just want to know if anyone knows anything about cruises outside of Australia (Sydney to South pacific).

My mum is currently in Australia on tourist visa 600 with 8558 condition which lets her stay 12 months in Australia in 18 months period. From my understanding if shes goes out of the country during the 12 months period she can stay those number of days more in Aus. E.g. if she arrived in Australia on 1st May 2019 she should leave Aus on or before 30th April 2020. Now if we plan a cruise for 10 days to the south pacific will she be able to stay in Aus until 10th May 2020? Is it how this works? And if the south pacific cruise which is in the international waters considered her time out of Australia?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi

Going on a cruise is not considered as departing Australia. You must book flights and leave through Airport.

  6. @vicky bajwa Thanks for the information.. I applied 173 visa in December 2016. So its still long way for us to go. I think you will get your AOS approved very soon. Its around 5 months processing time at this time.

This is great that you dont have to do medicals again. I think they never ask for medicals when you converting 173 to 143.

When did you applied for 173 and when it was granted?

@dunken I am in the same position I have applied for the 173 - there is a physical advantage whereby your folks can be in Australia whilst on the 173 and doing the switch to 143 - for the 173 we won't have to do AOS at this time as there is nearly a 18 - 20 week delay so when it gets to processing ours it will be quicker when they ask for Form 80, Medical and Police Clearance and payment of 2nd VAC.

The only disadvantage is a financial one as it is slightly more expensive a difference in total by $4,260 and also the chance the AOS maybe increased in 2019 from $10,000 to $15,000 for a single parent.

    Hi Marilyn

Thanks for the info.. i never thought about that 18-20 weeks time for AOS. Im also going to switch 173 to 143 as soon as they arrive on 173. Good luck to you and please keep us updated. 🙂

I have written to immigration on behalf of my parents to check the same thing. Their advice was that  we have to withdraw the 173 and apply for a new 143 , and my parents  will loose their place in the queue as it will be a new application.

So Dunken , hold on to your spot.

Thanks for your help. I wish we could apply for 143 without loosing any processing time. Its better to hold position in queue for 173 because processing time is getting worse day by day. When i applied in 2016, i thought it will take only 2 years, now i feel it will take 2 more years for 173 and then we have to apply 143. I’m not sure if my parents have to do medicals again when we apply 143. I  dont want to loose money paid for 173 visa if immi reject 143  application for any stupid reason.

Anyways, Did your parents get 173 or still waiting?

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just got my nomination approved today..... And i got Notification of Pre Grant Visa as well.. and i am asked by CO to leave australia in 28 days..

I am still in shock, cant believe it, took only 22 days after lodgement date...

But i am little bit confused as well.. My pre grant letter also says

I am writing to advise that this application for migration to Australia is nearing completion. A

decision as to whether or not visas will be granted for travel to Australia will be made once all

of the requirements listed in this letter have been addressed satisfactorily.

    Caution

At time of writing this letter, the application has not been finalised and visas have not been

granted. Applicants are cautioned not to give up a job, dispose of property or make other

arrangements until notified that the application has been approved and visas granted.

Does any one have any idea that my visa is approved or not??

I am excited and bit nervous..

    Thanks in advance.

They will explain you everything...

  12. Hi Premkhullar

This is a long time to get acknowledgement. We submitted out application, without RMA, 20 Oct and 24 Oct got letter below acknowledging receipt (that's 4 days):

    Dear Mr ******,

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship acknowledges receipt of your Permanent Employer Sponsored Entry visa application.

    Please find attached the following:

    • Formal acknowledgement letter

    • Fact sheet with general information relating to employer sponsored entry visa applications

    • Receipt

    Yours sincerely

    Position Number: 11182

    Administration Team

    NSW Permanent EmployerSponsored Entry Branch

    Department of Immigration and Citizenship

    Telephone: 13 18 81

    Fax: 02 8861 4439

    Email: nsw.pse@immi.gov.au

Why not phone them and usually they ask for: Name and Last name and Date of birth? Keep other info ready for security check. With an agent it is always difficult, but worth the try.

hi Illegitimate convict, Can i please ask that how did you sent your application to DIAC ,through register post, courier or any other way???

I think this is also one of the factor that how fast you get your acknowledgement.....

Different sending ways make different acknowledgement times...

My last application was sent through courier and it took only 2 days to get acknowledgement.
