  1. 29/07/11 - partner visa inc Police checks posted in person at Australia House, Strand, London - money taken from account as visa submitted

05/08/11 - Email from Case officer requesting medical assessment

17/08/11 - Medical assessment at Knightsbridge

01/09/11 - Emailed case officer to check if medicals had been forwarded - no reply

8 & 9/9/11 - Rang case officer as no reply to email sent 01/09/11. Case officer said "everything is fine, I don't need any more from you at this stage", I asked if he had meds & he confirmed that was all fine too but processing time from submission date is 5-6 months!!

If everything is fine & he needs no more from me why can't they just move to the next step & arrange the embassy interview & get things moving???

Have you actually been told you are going to have an interview? Most people applying from the UK don't have one unless the case is particularly complicated.

  2. We were hoping to go in March but it looks like it will be February now- visa permitting of course. Sadly my payout will be quite minimal as I've only worked 2 years with the company.

Ah, that's a shame. But still it shouldn't change things too much. Plus that way you can catch the end of the summer in Aus. And I wouldn't worry about having your visa by then, you must be literally weeks, if not days, away now.

  3. Hello,

I'm new to this forum, but just wanted to let everyone know about my visa application (De Facto Subclass 280/309). As you can see from my signature, I applied 2nd May (well, that's when the money was taken), and I have been assigned DP.

All that has been requested so far was for the medical, which I passed, and I have been sending more continuing evidence most months (as my fiancee is in Australia and it's additional proof that the relationship is continuing).

I have not hear anything from him, other than confirmation that he receives the info I send.

Hoping to hear soon and be in Canberra for December.

    Paul

Best of luck. We had DP and the visa was approved in just under 4 months.

  4. I am approved! Finally nudged our MA this morning about what was happening and it turns out we were actually granted on Friday 19th August! Very happy, and to be honest any excuse to drink a bottle of champers on a Monday is valid with me! Looking forward to the bank holiday for some more celebrating too.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped me out on here, whether it's been through conversation or just posting useful info about the whole process - it's been an addictive lifeline. Good luck to everyone applying, waiting and starting their new lives down under - I'll be over soon!

    Here's our timeline:

10/03/11 - All docs sent to MA.

17/03/11 - Lodged application to AHC for Partner 309 Visa.

    24/03/11 - C/O Assigned and Meds/PC requested.

    11/04/11 - PC Done.

    20/04/11 - Med Done.

    19/08/11 - Visa granted!

We are in the final stages of booking our shipping company and I have booked flights for the beginning of December to Sydney with Singapore Airlines.

    :jiggy:

Oh well done! Was a bit of a torturous wait for you, wasn't it? But as soon as you get the visa the waiting seems to vanish from memory as you get busy planning your move!

  5. Everything is all done for hubbys application - when should we hear an expected date for the visa? Does everyone get one (date that is)? How accurate are they?

I am so incredibly impatient and apart from this want to know everything, especially when it is out of my control in such a big way!

No, not everyone does. It depends on the case officer. Everyone should receive confirmation of receipt of application from their case officer roughly 1-2 weeks after submission. You may also receive a futher email giving an estimated date of approval. We did not. After about 3 months we decided to email our CO to see if he could provide any update on the standard 5-6 months and he kindly provided us with a rough estimate ("hope to approve in the 2nd half of August"). As it turned out we got it slightly earlier than this.

  6. Hey all, im new to this, figured out what OH, and CO stand for lol but was wondering if there is anywhere that says who the CO's are....e.g JF, DP and so on Thanks:jiggy:

No, the whole idea of using the initials is to respect the privacy/identity of the case officers (COs). You can tell if someone has the same CO as you as you'll recognise the initials but it's not fair to list their names on a public forum.

  7. Hello

Great news - just got the e-mail to confirm that my partner visa has been granted. Effectively a turnaround of 3.5 months - surely a record! JF was my case officer.

Good luck to all still waiting.

Partner visa Posted 28/4/11 C/O (JF) Assigned 12/5/11

Wow, it seems some of the visas are being approved a bit faster at the moment. Big congrats.

Fingers crossed for those still waiting. Hope it's your turn soon!

  8. Melbourne here we come! Flying out today..............:twitcy: Not had much sleep as I've been having nightmares about the flight with a 2 year old. Sods law she's got a really bad cold so is snotting for Scotland and has gone off her food.

Had a disaster packing yesterday. Thought all my stuff would fit into our suitcases using the vacuum bags but no, there I was in Argos at 6pm buying 2 more suitcases. I'm also DHL'ing a 20kg box. I got a quote from Emirates for 20kg excess baggage and they wanted £560!!!!:arghh: God, I broke out in a cold sweat. DHL only charge £200.

We can't fit all the luggage in my dad's car so a friend is having to bring our luggage to the airport..........I feel like royalty.

Hope Emirates have plenty wine on board!

Sounds like a challenge! Good luck with the flight and all the best for the big move.

  9. Adelaide is my home town and while I do love it we're planning on the east coast. I've been here for 10 years this nov and we want to start a 'new' life not try to fit back into an old one I guess.

Where a bouts in Adelaide are you from? I grew up in Mitchell pk and hubby and I lived in woodcroft before moving here.

Well I have a house in Ethelton, which I hardly had time to live in before I decided to move over here. So it makes sense to move into that at first. If we find it a bit quiet I've always thought Melbourne could be a good option. But it's Adelaide for starters. And my parents live down Victor Harbour way so it will be nice to be closer to them ..... although not too close!

  10. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I should have specified a bit more. I already got a confirmation as I handed in the application in person. But there was no CO assigned to that confirmation.

I guess I was just expecting to have received an email from a CO so I knew that the application was in hand. Any idea how long this type of visa application normally takes?

I would still give them a call, it seems like it's been a very long time.

As I said before, most people here have applied through the UK so I don't have experience of the Berlin office. However, currently quite a lot of people on this forum have been receiving their visas in about 4.5 months or so. Every case is different but it's a rough guide at least.

  11. Could any one tell me how long it takes from handing in your Spouse visa to getting a CO? Handed mine in to the Embassy in Berlin in May and have not heard anything as yet.:daydreaming:

Hi there. Most people on here have applied through the UK so it's hard to comment on the Berlin office. Having said that, May was quite a while ago and it seems strange that you wouldn't have heard something by now. A couple of people on here have had a similar problem and it turned out that the email confirmation was sent to the wrong address or disappeared into junk mail or something like that. If I were you I'd be calling the Berlin office directly. You'll probably discover you were allocated a CO a couple of months ago! Good luck :)

  12. Ok so i sent my visa off 2/8 - It has been recieved 3/8 morning.. Had my medical checks done yesterday everything was fine there! Just wondering... do AH usually confirm reciept of visa application? Like an email or call etc? Or do i wait until im given a CO?

Arrgghhh waiting games!! Thanks :) x

The email from your CO will be the confirmation. It usually takes about a week or two from when you submitted the application to hearing from your CO. The email will also give you a case reference number, which you can use for any communications regarding your application.
