  6. Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any reasonably priced good places for short term accommodation? My parents are due out later in the year for approx 6 weeks. They like their independence and we don't have much space at our place so we think they'd probably be more comfortable and prefer to stay somewhere rather than bunk down at ours.

So any suggestions for reasonably priced places would be gratefully received. We're in West Belconnen so anywhere in Belconnen or Inner North is preferred.

    Thanks in advance

did you manage to find anywhere yet?

  7. I see- sounds much better now. So the new person has to go through same checks via the Landlord or Agent as teh original tenant. That's good and so much more secure for the LAndlord. Thanks guys you have cleared a few things up for me, oh and by the way , yes I am living here - emigrated just 7 months ago and loving it

  8. I think he is looking to Break Lease rather than sub let, by having someone lined up to take it on he will save himself a few $$$$ in rent when he has to move.

    Cal x

So, here in Oz, you are allowed to Break Lease (ie leave early) but you still have to pay but you are allowed to get any old tom dick or harry in to help cover your payments. Gee I would be well peed off as a landlord as whoever takes over has not been through creidt check and references etc and may trash the place etc etc.. Also how do you knwo Steve the legend hasn't just got a proerty he is wishing to rent out??

  9. we had a lovely van in uk 5 berth - suited us well, sold it for just over £1,000 and it was great really good condition. we started to look for vans when we got here and were astonished at how expensive a van is here in same condition and size of ours average price about £12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can go through all the hassle of conevrsion and papers etc bring it over

  10. Hi I am due to qualify as a children's nurse in march 2013 and I was wondering what kind of opportunities where available to me and if I would need experience before I could come over and work :-) x

mY FRIEND QUALIFIED AS A CHILDRENS NURSE IN January 2012 but has been told by the Ozzie nursing board she will need at least 1 years post qualifying exp as childrens nurse before she can apply to AHAPRA. Problem is there are not enough paedriatric nurse jobs available in UK for her to start her experience!!!

  11. hi ben, we've been here 4 weeks and certainly notice the cold house syndrome! The crappy wall mounted heaters are usually on most of the day/night as we're renting there's not much we can do about that.

Driving is a bit odd, but i've driven some places that makes canberra drivers look fantastic, eg paris, milan and london! They may be slow here, but at least they're not trying to kill themselves in a hurry! On the plus side, a slower pace on the road allows better sightseeing! Canberra has lots to see.

I love it here, bad couldn't think of a better place to raise my kids!

    totally agree!
