Its a lot more expensive to use an agent, I did ours myself and it was really straight forward. You just have to be organised about it.
Good luck

When my OH was working as a CNC Machinist he was earning just over $100,000 per year but this was with shift allowance too. Not sure if this is any help.
Thats great, thank you
-
A lot of the sites, don't have a wage written down, so we've got nothing to compare to, this is a Senior machinist/leading hand job he's been offered, but when asked what he expects to earn we are a bit stuck.....

Hi PIO's,
Does anyone have any idea what the going rate is for a Senior CNC Machinist or Leading Hand in an Engineering firm is please?
Thanks in Advance

Congratulations!!!
Thank you

Congratulations. You lodged the same day as us. Did you have any contact before your grant? What was your application status saying leading up to it? Ours still says application received and we've still had no contact. Hating the waiting
Hi,
We were allocated a CO on June 30th, but never heard anything from them.......our status just said Application Received literally right up until the point it was granted. The waiting sucks, but hopefully your wait is nearly over

Hi Everyone,
I'm Melissa and we are moving to Perth in January, I am Mum to 2 boys, Marley - Age 9 and Nate age 3........
Marley is very worried about moving to Perth and leaving his friends and family, he is lucky that he has a Nanny and Grandad already living in Perth and has some cousins and Aunties and Uncles there too......but, he still feels scared.
I'm hoping some of you lovely youngsters on here who have been through to move could help him out with a bit of reassurance that it will all be ok.
He loves footy and is a big Man Utd fan, he also loves swimming, rounders and scooting......
Any help or words of advice would be very much appreciated
Thanks Guys xx

VISA GRANTED TODAY!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :jiggy:
-
We lodged the same day as you. Not heard anything yet, but I thought that was good as you only get a case officer if they need additional information. Otherwise it's a direct grant.
I'm thinking we won't hear for a few more weeks yet being as some that lodged in April still haven't been granted.
I'm filling out Form 80's as thats the only thing I can think of that they could possibly want........although they've not actually asked for anything else yet......
Good luck with yours

Hey PIO's
We lodged our 189 visa ourselves on May 12th, we've had medicals and police checks carried out in May also, we were allocated a Case Officer on June 30th; How long did the rest of you wait to have your visa granted after this point please?
TIA,
Mel

We've been allocated a Case Officer this morning :cute:

Same. Weekends are a pleasure though because you know that nothing will be updated and therefore you can relax!
But the 1st July is imminent.........
-
Application went in on 12th May.......still nothing, no CO yet.........Im soooooooo bad at waiting!!!
-
Well, we've had our medicals done and police checks back this week........and we continue to wait......
-
Ours was about 12 weeks including christmas, so more like 10 with that taken out

Hey!
We received our invitation to apply on 22nd May. Lodged & paid for on 24th! In the process of uploading all our documents just wondering if you all submitted coloured originals or certified copies of originals?? Lots of conflicting info out there!!
Good luck to everyone!!
Coloured scans are fine, they don't need to be certified - A migration agent told me that

Hi,
I'm Wayne, I'm logged on the wife's account......
Just wondering if there is anybody that could advise me on engineering jobs. I'm a CNC Miller using Heidenhain controls with 19 years experience in engineering. I did a full apprenticeship and have plenty of manual milling experience also. We're looking to live NOR (Joondalup area) when we emigrate. Our 189 visa is in process as we speak. Ive had my trade certified by Vetassess. We're moving to Perth, can anyone advise me on places or companies to contact, websites for jobs and generally any other information that could be useful.
If anyone on here does the same job or works in recruitment it would be great to hear from you.
cheers Wayne.

We've been out there twice in the last 5 years, so glad we did, it gave us a really good idea the area and where we want to live, I also met with potential employers. Many people go without visiting, but I couldn't imagine moving somewhere I'd never been

Hi Meljayg,
This thread hasn't really gained much traction has it?!?! I suppose it's fairly early days for most of us.
How are you getting on with uploading docs? I have just about finished today. Uploaded most things including Form 80 and just waiting for my wife's NZ PCC to come back, I think that I've uploaded around 40 documents in total. Hope they don't ask for much more, there's a 60 document limit.
Have you booked for your meds yet? There was a two week waiting list for my local medical centre for weekday appointments. My sons school is extremely strict with attendance, they wanted me to fill in three separate forms to take him out for the medical for a half day. Couldn't be bothered with that, so booked a Saturday appointment to save on the hassle of having to fill out more forms...I think I've done enough these last few weeks!
We are looking at going to QLD, there's a possible job opening up for me soon, but I don't want to say too much in case I jinx it!
Hey,
All docs uploaded, police checks are being done at the mo and medicals are booked for Thurs Any ideas if its any quicker getting it all done before they ask for it??
We were lucky getting the appt in half term, but we've got a bloody 2hr drive to get there.....yuk.
We have friends in Airlie Beach in QLD, looks an amazing place

Our visa is being lodged today. Married couple going to Perth to be with our family who emigrated 3 years ago. Got the invite 5 weeks before 45th birthday, phew.
We've got family in Perth too
-
Hey PIO's,
Who's lodged their 189 this month then?? Where are you headed???
We lodged ours this week and are heading to the Northern Suburbs in Perth
-
I'm assuming your parents house is in the catchment area for the school, in which case it shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know state schools, unlike in the UK, have to provide a place if you live in the catchment area.
Bugger, We're 1 road outside of the catchment area!! Thats ok though, the school who's catchment area we are in, is actually closer
-
We've got an Australian bank account that is registered to my parents address, so hopefully that will be ok?
-
Thanks Sammy, we have an address already as we will be moving in with my parents temporarily when we arrive, I'll drop them an email later on this year when we defo have the visa.
Thanks also Ali
