  1. I am actually in Perth now on a 457 visa which I found after applying for a LRR. I am tied to my employer though and really want the PR to come through so I can break those shackles as there is significant opportunity here to make me realise I am significantly under paid by my sponsor. My family are all in Perth too so with any luck I will be nearing the end of this journey! too

me too. Thats what they said when i inquired in teh HIgh commision in London. But I wanted to be OZ quicker. So decided to come here on a tourist visa and apply. Where in OZ do you plan to stay. I travelled for a year around OZ but decided Sydney is for me. My family lives in rural NSW.
  2. Well I have a queue date of June 2010 (offshore) and haven't heard anything yet. Will be intersting for me and others when I eventually do hear something

    hi

those with queue dates in 2010 are being given visas.

I thought one got CO's first( like me and others I know) and then got queue ddates later. Your seem to be the potther way around. I dont think even they have a policy. It happens as it happens. Eitherway congrats. If 2010 queue dates are getting visas now I have only two more years to go. hooray[

  3. is it here but not with breakdown, lets hope that they will not move all numbers to career visas instead of remaining relative:

    cheers

Thats how I read it (ie that all remaining relative visa carers and non-carers had been released). Any new allocation for 12-13 would be allocated to those visas with a queue date of 2010 onwards.

Would love to know if this is indeed the case!

  4. I would be interested to see the new estimated processesing times after the numbers for 2012-2013 numbers have been agreed. I have a queue date of July 2010 so may be nearer than first thought.

Never ending story, what a bureaucracy in China they have more reliable system. Bad news I feel sad to show you first!

Remaining Relative and Aged Dependent Relative visa applicants

Applications for Remaining Relative or Aged Dependent Relative visas with a queue date up to 31 December 2009 have been released from the queue for final processing. No further releases are expected in the current financial year.

Further information for applications which have a queue date from 1 January 2010 will be published once migration numbers are set for the 2012-13 year.

Based on current planning levels and demand, it is estimated that applicants with Remaining Relative or Aged Dependent Relative visa applications lodged before

1 January 2012, that have not yet been assessed and queued, are likely to wait up to 12 years for finalisation of their visa application (from 1 January 2012).

  5. Hi Dan,

    Thanks for your reply.

My question reates to whether it is possible to aqcuire a sponsored working 457 visa while my LRR is being processed. I.e. finding an employer who is wiling to sponsor me?

    MAny thanks

    Hi Derrick34

You can visit your family here during your application is being processed but you have to be in your country when your visa grant consideration is due.

You are just the visitor and not allowed to work lawfully or remain in AUS long-term stays!!

    Details on IMMI's site:

    Cheers

    Dan

  6. Hi everyone,

As a possible solution to the capping and queuing times we are facing I am considering trying to find employment the next time I visit my family in November. I am unsure though if a) this is possible under the terms of the LRR visa application and if it is possible to acquire sponsiroship whilst visiting Oz.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Matt

  7. Hi everyone,

Just thought I would update this thread with some further comms I have had with my CO at London. My queue date for LRR visa is 14 July 2010 so according to immi website my waiting time is between 1.5 and 2.5 years. I emailed my CO as I wanted to understand if the additional 500 visas for 2011-12 would decrease waiting times. The response was not encouraging in the 'most of the LRR visas for 2011-12 were allocated to Carer Visas' and that 'at the moment, the visa processing time remains as per the website'

    all the best,

    Derrick

  8. Oh I do hope so. So desperate to get his sister over but can not wait 10 years!!!

Thanks for the post and for getting my hopes up. It has certainly been an emotional rollercoaster of a process from start to finish.

when was the application made? Fingers crossed for everyone who is having their life affected by this!

  9. There has been an update to the Aussie Immigration site and specifically forecast waiting times according to your queue date:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/other-family-visa-queue.htm#a

It seems that the wait might not be that long, at least for those that have a queue date before 30th July 2010. For those that have a date after April 2011, a waiting time of 10 years can be expected! Scandalous....

  10. Hi Frizzy - agree with what you say although I am more concerned with not being near my family than being forced to be single!

I don't really know what to think at the moment. I dread telling my mother as she suffers from depression and I fear what this news will do to her.

    Hi,

I have received a response back from my CO and she also quoted 3 years waiting time for the last remaining relative visa (based on current allocation and number ahead of me).

Derrick -I am in the same boat as you, I am now thinking that its unlikely that I will be able to join my family now at least on this visa. Its just too much to ask of anyone to stay single for that period of time and I am not getting any younger!!

Its so disappointing; all we want to do is be with our families - its hard enough being the "last remaining relative" and missing your family as it is!!!!. Just because we are not on the "wanted" list, doesnt mean that we havent got a lot to offer Australia; not all of us are wanting to go out there and just take from the system. In fact on the contrary, we would have to work very hard to even make a decent living and would be giving a lot back.

Not sure what my plan B is at the moment.....

  11. Hi everyone,

I too received the email yesterday quoting my queue date of 12.07.10. I emailed my CO to ask what the likely processing times are and the response i got was '3 years plus'.

This is incredibly disapointing (particularly as when i lodged my application and paid my irst installment i was quoted 3months!). I cannot see how this will work for me now. I will probably have to accept that joining my family is not going to happen (through the LRR visa at least).

    Good luck everyone.
