  1. Visa approved today (case officer JF), submitted end of April, so about 3 and a half months.....very very happy......and very relieved as i'd already booked flights for October...now to get ready!

    Nell

    Congratulations! Phew..that was quick!!

Got it, got it, got it!!!!

    Visa granted today.

Four and a half months (case officer was DP).

    Fantastic! Congratulations to you too!

  2. Our Visa was approved on Tuesday 9th of August 2011 by LG, many thanks to her) which is a little over the 4 month mark. We are over the moon and have are just about getting over the hangovers from our Visa Party!. We can now start to plan for our future and get out of the UK before it goes up in flames or implodes financially(or both):biglaugh:.

    Forbes & Jane

    Congratulations!!

  3. The email is quite formal. It tells you your grant number etc so shouldn't cause problems as long as you keep a copy of it with your passport.

When we booked our flights the travel agent said we didnt need any physical proof as its electronically attached to OH's passport. However, I'll be taking 3 or 4 copies of the visa email with me anyway (just cause I'm slightly paranoid!).

  4.

I mean it when I say both Sam and I wish you all the best on your new journey x

Thanks very much, all the best to you too!

I agree its probably cheaper to get kitted out here, but my stuff isnt worth taking now. We want a completely fresh start and we'll be living with family for a little while, so we'll gather new stuff up slowly.

I guess when your earning and spending dollars you don't notice the cost as much. It also really depends on where you shop. For example, I got all of my whitegoods and electricals at the Good Guys, where they give you a discount for paying cash and you can actually negotiate the cost. I'd never pay retail!

Getting back on topic, has anyone bothered to send OH's passport to Australia house for a visa sticker or just printing out the email visa??

  5. It's so exciting booking flights. I was buzzing all day after I booked ours as it suddenly seemed real! (we're booked for November too). If you don't fancy having to try and sell all your stuff you might want to consider making a few generous donations to friends and family. My OH's parents are already excited about the "new" TV and computer they will be getting!

ha ha, very true. family are great for offloading! I've already sold half my stuff. I work in quite a large workplace so just sent out a list by email. if we don't sell the bed etc, it will meet its end at the local tip!!

it is very exciting getting booked up...when i read out my debit card number on the phone my hands were shaking!! i think its because we've spent so much time saying 'we'll get sorted when the visa comes through'...then BOOM it arrived!!

  6. Booked our flights today through Austravel. 3rd time I've used them and very happy again.

All seems very final now...we'll be leaving at the start of November. We're taking nothing but suitcases and sending one medium box surface mail (just my little boy's christening gifts etc). I shipped everything in this direction so its time to be ruthless and say goodbye to it all. Now we have to sell our hoards of belongings!!

  7. Yep still waiting trying to be patient!!! We've gone through an agent and I've been a thorn in his backside about wanting the verdict but he said she was clear in his chaser email in June to chillax and wait until the date. She's a stickler for the rules unfortunately, I'm pleased for everyone who's had their grants but I must admit I'm finding it hard seeing others get theirs who submitted after us.

Hopefully not long to go now!!

I'd be giving her a call direct. I know its technically breaking the rules, but I wouldnt be able to help myself!! :twitcy:

You applied at the same time as us, so shouldn't be far away from a decision.

You must have the patience of a saint!

  8. Hi everyone,

i am new to this, we have just applied for a partner visa (8/7/11) fully loaded with medicals and police check.

I believe other people on here have done that. Its something you should discuss with your case officer to make sure its ok to go out on a tourist visa. Just ask if you need to know anything else. I'm by no means an expert, but I'll help where I can, and there's lot of great people on this thread who will help too. Good luck! :v_SPIN:

  9. just wondering if its worth call our c/o. we got an email a while back saying that everything that is needed has been recieved and that they will let us know when it will be finalised and that they will aim to do it as fast as possible etc etc.... we havent been given a date of when they think it will be done like some people seem to of had... anyone think its worth giving him a call or email asking about progress..., we lodged and payment taken on 27 may

Your still a little while away yet I'd imagine, but I think its good to keep in touch.

  10. Hey I just posted this and I refer to your post about the police checks in other countries ....any help you could give me would be so great!

Hi!!!! I may of missed something here ...in fact I'm sure I have but I can't read all the pages lol ....question is ...Does front loaded (as stated in post 1) with police checks and medical mean that when you first send your application forms you include police check, medical, ALL information so you don't wait for the request for it? Obiously if I can get a medical booked and police checks done before then I will and send it all straight away, if thats possible?

Im currently in Aus now so can my Mum book my medical for me and get the police forms sent to me here to fill out and send back? Ready to go the day I touch down in the Uk.

Also I saw someone said that you have to get a police check from any country you have lived in for over 12 months. Ive been in aus for 12 months and I do have a police check and blue card from working with a charity. So how do I get the police check forms to send aswel?

ANY help or advice would be so good for us! Were starting early lol!

    Thanks!!!!!!! x

As Eragwyn said you need to get one purely for the visa. I don't think front loading really makes any difference in time frames though. You'll have to apply to ACPOS for your UK check. Good luck!

  11. I am just about to start this process so reading all your posts has been great. Re Police checks - Are these English ones or Australian ones? I'm guessing with the medicals you just pay your Dr for them? I am married to an Australian so not sure which visa I'm applying for (but will find out!). I have a son from a previous relationship - not sure which visa he'd need and my daughter is just about to get an Australian passport so I am guessing she doesn't need a visa?

I might put this as a separate post so as not to mess up the thread!

Police checks are UK ones, however you will also need one for each place you've lived for more than 12 months in the last 10 years.

The medicals have to be done by an approved provider. Ordinarily they are at private hospitals. We had ours done in Edinburgh, it was just under £300 (thats per person).

Your son can be included on your application if you are applying for a 309/100 visa.

Good luck with it all.

  12. Woop woop!!!!!

Our visa has been granted! Subclass 100. 4 months and one week. Thank you all so so much for your support and words of wisdom. If it's been over 4 months then call your CO and get an update!

We fly 2 weeks tomorrow. Last thing to do is for the dollar to weaken by 1 cent so that we can buy our house before Thursday.

Good luck to everyone still waiting xxxxx

    :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

    Oh fantastic! Congratulations!!!

  13. I'm hoping so. I've had three full on meltdowns this week, which has lead to me dumping my husband three times and him dumping me twice lol. I'm sure your right though, just pre-move jitters. I'll be fine once I'm actually on the plane.

I'm flying with Singapore, got the one way flight for £650 so I jumped on it. I usually fly with them anyway so I'm happy as I get the miles. I was tempted to fly Emirates as they have that A380 on the Manchester route but they couldn't get anywhere near Singapore's price.

How are all your preparations going?

£650 is fab, especially for singapore airlines. I'm a big fan of them!

We've been quoted £2101 to fly on 31 Oct (2 adults and a toddler). Thats with Emirates... and another agent has quoted £2115 for the same dates but with an airport hotel for 1 night in singapore and flying singapore air. We'll probably go with singapore air so that we can recharge our batteries and have a shower etc.

I'm sure everything will be fine when you get there. Where abouts are you heading?

  14. I've been shopping up a storm today getting ready for the big move which is **drumroll**....the 9th August. Which is the Tuesday after next. Removal people are coming next Friday, so I'm up to my ears in boxes and crap. I'm actually having cold feet and would rather him come back here, but he's having none of it. Oh well, I guess I'll be fine once I see him.

Its just pre-move jitters! You'll be fine. 9 August???!!! Thats no time at all. Who are you flying with?
