  1. Your fathers illness will do also anything else, family reasons, job reasons, any family illness, kids schooling if you have any etc..........Your PR visa does not expire its the travel part so you should be able to apply for an RRV while here .............

Thank you you for that, there's quite abit I'll be able to include, I'll apply whilst we're over in Australia

Doyou know if the fee payable is per visa applicant (there's 4 of us), or just per family application ?

    Thanks again for your reply

  2. Left Aus in 1990 on PR Visa and came back in 2014 on RRV.....so yes it can be done.

You need compelling and compassionate reasons as to why you were not back in Aus in those years

We went to Australia in 2012 but were unable to secure work, and also my father was fighting cancer, so we had to return to the UK. Our PR visa expires next month but we will be in Australia when this happens, we are having another reccie to see if things have improved any and if we can secure work. We are hoping to apply for a RRV whilst in Australia and your post has given me some hope, we really don't want our dream to emigrate to be over ... what do they class as compelling and compassionate reasons ?

  3. We visited WA a few years back from May to July and it was lovely, we were in shorts and t.shirts every day and spent many days on the beach. It was better weather than back in the UK's summer. We did have some rain and storms and it did cool at night but compared to what we experience here it was lovely.

Weathers one of those things, it will be what it will be, but I don't think it will spoil your trip, we're heading over June to August and can't wait ... Have fun

  4. I done my wife's a few weeks ago. I couldn't figure out how to submit it online so I searched on here and found an e-mail address to send it to:

    929.update @ dfat.gov.au

Took them a couple of days and it was all done.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you, did you just email the form or send a copy of the new passport ?

  5. Hi has anyone updated their passport information? I'm unable to do it online as we used an agent and they dealt with the login and passwords, they are no longer trading so I can't get it from them.

The form itself is quite straight forward, I'm just unsure of where to send it and if I need the new passport verified first and if I can get a stamp put into them ... 3 of the 4 of us have new passports !!!

Does anyone know if I can email the form ?

Thanks to anyone who can offer any guidance.

    Tracey

  6. HI Brown5 - it i

s hard to get your head around - I struggled with it when we moved from UK.

Next year your son who turns 14 in Dec will go into year 9, and your second son who is 12 in May will go into year 7. That is true of all schools in WA (they aren't interested in current school year, just DOB) except the International School, which is in line with the Northern Hemisphere.

Thank you for your reply KLO, I thought they would remain in the same school year, they'll just be in it longer lol (that will please them !)

  7. This is the one thing that has been confusing me (doesn't take much !!). I have a son who is year 9 in Uk and will be 14 in December, my second son is year 7 and is 12 next May.

am I right in thinking that when we go to Perth next year they will be year 7 and 9 still ?

  8. Update :) we fly out in 3 weeks getting excited now. We are heading to Sunshine Coast this time to try something new. Feel a lot braver this time and family are being very supportive now. My mam and dad have even said they will fly over for the month of January 2016! Which is a great improvement for them. We have just got one way flights this time, have some friends nearby and looking forward to it. I know I will be homesick but hope in time this will get better.

Wishing you all the best, we had a similar experience where we were in Oz for 12 weeks and ended up coming back, we have 2 years left on our visa and I'm hoping that we can get back over.

I'll be looking out for that 6 month positive post, but if you end up back here then at least you'll know for sure :-)

    good luck x

  9. When you off over

Not sure ... we sold everything and made the move in 2012 just as everything seemed to die !!!! Stuck it out for a while but we were eating into our savings so came back to the UK as OH went straight back on site the next day and money was coming in.

visa expires 2016 desperate to go back but concerned about the work situation.

  10. Hi,

We just had our 189 granted on the 14th. Our agent advised that although it is a permanent residency visa, it only lasts for 5 years. Also, we would need to spend 4 of the 5 years in Australia to enable us to apply for citizenship or 2 out of 5 years to be eligible to apply for a resident return visa.. As far as i am aware, there are no restrictions on how many times you travel back and for on your 189 while it is valid.. Hope this helps.. :)

    Thank you

  11. It can be applied for anywhere. It will either be for three months, one year or five years. A bit more information would be required to make an educated guess on which would be most likely.

Thank you .... I thought you had to be in Australia to apply :-)

  12. Hi do you have to actually be in Australia to apply for a RRV or can this be done whilst living in the Uk ?

Also is there a minimum amount of time that you should have been an Australian resident for this to be granted and does anybody know how long they normally last for if successful ?

    Thank you
