  1. Can someone please advise what is the IELTs requirement for the student visa VET course. I am from India. The institute says that I have to score 5 and a individual score of 5.5 in all in the General IELTs. I am from India.

    thanks...

  2. hi smithkt87 my CO asked me medical and police check aswell nearly two weeks now and dont have a queue date i applied may 2011.. inthink med and police check is only for initial assessment. Now we need to wait for 10yrs!!!

While over 10 yrs is the promised time, I would like to be more optimistic and say the visas of 2013 should be received in a couple of years given that they are processing June 2011. If the number of visas per year for this category is increased substantially, then we can expect them issued earlier.

  3. Good news to all of you. IMMI has updated the details on their website. Let check it out:

"Applications for Remaining Relative or Aged Dependent Relative visas with a queue date up to 31 May 2010 are now being considered for finalisation."

    http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/other-family-visa-queue.htm

    Cheers

This is good news to atleast know now that we are not forgotten. I wonder how many more visas before they can reach July 2011 when my sister applied. Unfortunately she could not apply before because, I had to get my PR first.

  4. Ozzieland, you probably need to wait a bit while for the queue date. This will be issued to you in a letter which happens around 12 months from the date you received the acknowledgement letter.

Thanks for you reply. Did not know that it took that long. Got confused when they mentioned about a CO in 3 months and thought that that meant we at least had a queue date.

  5. Thanks Dan for sharing your progress. My sister lodged her 115 application offshore in May 2010 and the queue date is 01/08/2011. Like you said there is no consistency in the way DIAC allocated a queue date. Anyway, congratulation on the final grant of your visa. Enjoy your future in Oz.

    Hi,

My Sis applied for 115 and got a reply nearly immediately acknowledging receipt and telling her that she would get a case officer in 3 months. While that did not happen, at least not known to us, don't understand what they mean by queue date. We are from india. Does anyone know.

  6. Hi,

Sorry to hear that. What does assigned a queue mean? Does it mean that your application was acknowledged? My sister applied in July 2011 and got an acknowledgement in a couple of hours saying that she would get a case officer within 3 months. Does this mean she is assigned to a queue or is it when she gets a CO?

  7. Sigh, no updates whatsoever. It's turning out to be a really really long wait. I keep checking immi's website every week to see if they put up some new information.

Should we be worried by this statement:

Also, I think I have mentioned it before that I received an email from an officer at immi who mentioned that they are currently processing applications lodged in 2008-2009.

Thats surprising given the fact that the LRR visa rules changed in 2010 and before that, most visas were processed within 2-3 months !! Did not even dream that they had a backlog !

  8. Hi Ozzieland,

I think Daniel's reply is not totally correct. (sorry Dan i am just trying to present my thoughts)

After I lodged my applications offshore 6-8 weeks, I got a Receipt of Acknowledgment from Australian Embassy, and they passed my application to a CO. She contacted and asked me to undergo Medical Exam and Police Checks. I was so glad to do all of those requests, and then the officer emailed me that all results were received.

And then, they professionally announce that my application had been locked in the safe extremely carefully, and I will be more than welcome to be put on the queue in Only 10+ years. Then they ended their announcement politely by a sentence: "Do not hesitate to contact me."

I do no dare to get married now and even in 10 years. Do not know what this leads my life to, when Australia; the most well-known on the Earth, which is made by soil, for humaniarism; asks me - an extremely lonely and weak girl - to wait for 10+ years just in order to reunite with my family.

    Hi Ozzieland

That's fair enough. It's the normal time ( 4 - 8 weeks ) for new applications to be assigned for assessment. If any application is found that meet the core requirements to be granted visa, it will be given the queue day and place in the queue! The queue applications then will be granted visa when the visa place become available. The cap will be acted at anytime during the program year once the number of granted visa reached. Details of processing time, cap and queue day are on IMMI's website:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/21managing.htm

The current cap and queue of Other Family visa at here:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/other-family-visa-queue.htm

Good luck to your sis's case

    Cheers

    Hi both,

I have noticed that the mail was acknowledged by the Australian High Commission in India (application filed from Australia by agent to India . Wondering if the processing will be done by them ? I think both your answers are similar in the sense that a queue date will be given if the application is 'straightforward' and processed and then when visas becomes available, you will get your visa. I wonder what is the status right now of how many visas have been granted for this year so far ?

Hopefull all will get their visas quickly.

    Good luck !!

  9. Hi, yes of course, sorry I didnt mean it that way and would give anything to be with my family but given the lengthy timescales, I am just not sure that I would be able to put my life on hold for that long a period. I am nearing 40 and would love to settle and have kids but that wouldnt be an option for me if I have to wait 3 years.

I havent told my folks yet either - they are hoping I will be out by the end of the year but unless I come up with a Plan B, thats highly unlikely.

I guess the only other option we have is to go out to Oz and change the application to an onshore application; at least you are with your family in Oz and can start to live your life BUT unfortunatley you would need substantial savings to support yourself during the 3 years waiting time as you cannot work whilst on this visa (unless you got dispensation).

    Hi

How do you change your application to an onshore application, iIf I have applied for an offshore LRR visa ? We are looking a using this option for my youngest sister and unfortunately, this is the only option.

  10. Hi Everyone,

Just came across your forum as I was searching on Cap and queue for Carer Visas.

My Mum is an Australian citizen and needs me to come and take care of her.

Timeline on Carer application for clearer understanding

    11 March 2010 - Application was lodged

19 March 2010 - CO assigned and was told average waiting time 9 mths.

16 July 2010 - e-mail from CO that ended up in junkmail that I only discovered 3 weeks later asking for HSA certificate. I thought that they had received it with my application but my mother had inadvertedly sent me the forms that her doctor had filled in that should have gone to HSA.

18 Nov 2010 - Mum finally get's her medical and she is approved by HSA for a fulltime Carer.

Dec 2010 I send in more documents to my CO.

12 Jan 2011 - Co tells me to go ahead and get medical and police checks.

28 Jan - CO phones to say that there has been a cap and queue and it could now take up to 6 years!!!!

How come if I have already reached this stage?

I am unable to break this news to my mum who thought that I would be with her in a few months from now. I fear for her health and that she might have a relapse.

Does anybody have anymore info at all please?

    Thanks

Wow... six years sounds out of the blue. I have never heard ths kind of visa taking so long. I thought it would be 1 to 2 years max. Why did she tell you to do Meds and PCCs if it was going to take this long ? Well, we will have to wait and see.

  11. Thanks mate for your feedback. Well I just quickly scanned through immi website and reckon that you can add dependants. ↲Well I am an Electronics Engineer. My occupation is not in most of the smp's. My less experience also restrict me to apply to those states where electronics is listed. My bro is living in Sydney.

I too have family in Sydney and I have ACT sponsorship. I think there are many who have SS although they have family in another state. Spending 2 years away from family is no big deal because I can still go down and visit and vise versa. It is easier this way than staying in another country where you can't meet at all.

  12. Hi Guys,

I havent been through this thread earlier with so much interest but things seems to be turning the other way by viewing the sleepywombat's comments.

I have a quick but long question, if anyone can assist me through.

    Background:

I have already applied for a 176 (Family Sponsored) visa. My brother sponsored me. In my Visa my widow mother is my dependant and I have suffice material to prove her dependancy. We altogether are 4 brother and sisters. My 2 sis are living in Canada and Bro in Australia. I am the only one remaining back the home country having my mother as my dependant. She is a Widow and 59yrs old.

    Question:

I want to know if I can just apply for a tourist visa for me & my mother and soon after landing the Ozland, apply for LRR (835) onshore. Even if i had applied for 176 (Family Sponsored) offshore. Which ever comes first I will validate.

Any suggestions to pour in guys. Would be a great help.

    Cheers,

    Anthony.

You can definitely apply for a Tourist Visa. However I am not to sure if you are eligible for a LRR visa as your mother's residence is not Australia and you cannot include a dependent with this visa. Besides, your sisters reside in Canada and not Australia. You will have to read through the rules for this kind of a visa. You should have looked at the opportunity of getting a state to sponsor you as once you are on the SMP, it is way quicker and you have to reside in the state for only 2 years. What is your occupation ? and where does your brother reside ?
