  1. So without the risk of sounding dumb it doesn't matter that the rest of his family are on uk passports as I thought that would arouse more suspicion.

ill def get the Aussie passport with the attached visa that ozmaniac suggested but moving forward will a uk passport be only of use if we travel around Europe and serves no purpose if we come in and out of Australia as that's the only passport he is allowed to travel on here?

  2. Hi,

    thanks for the quick response.

the question is def asked "was the applicant a British national at birth" and when I look in the help section all it goes on about is people from other countries having babies in the uk or the forces. Super frustrating and the passport Australian side couldn't help me much with the uk passport questions.

So would people think I'm better to travel with us on uk passports and him on an Australian one?

    Thanks again

  3. Hi.

my husband, our four year old son and myself are all from the uk, British at birth and hold uk passports with 176 visa's in now that we live in Australia

I've had a baby here in Australia and now I'm trying to get him a uk passport so we can all travel on the same passports to Bali in june. The question is on the passport form "is he a British national at birth " I want to say yes but I'm doubting myself, can anyone clarify this for me?

also would the 176 be automatically added to his passport or does he not need it?

would I just be better to get him an Australian passport?

    many thanks

  4. Hi Sarah,

As Andrew has already stated, your OH can do the two week course at CET and upon completion he can apply for an WA A grade licence. The course itself costs about $960 but as you have a PR visa then previous posts I've seen indicate that you can get this subsidised and only pay $160. As I write the WA licencing website is down (maybe due to maintenance).

Take a look at this LINK as it shows how a man named Warren Thomas got his WA licence step by step. You'll notice that he has an ARTC as opposed to an OTSR. This doesn't matter as the process is the same for both certificate holders.

    Regards Derren

massive thank yous to Andrew and Derren....and sorry for not being clear in my first question.

Right well sounds like we best get our skates on

    thanks again

  5. Hi there,

Depending on the amount of points have then he may have to sit an English exam (IELTS) and maybe secure state sponsorship before you apply for the visa.

    Regards Derren

    Hi Derren7

We have our 176 visa as stated and we move on the 1st September...maybe I wasn't clear on my question sorry.

What I am trying to find out is how we get the "electrical ticket" as they call it.

Just need to know where and how in WA we can get a electrical install or contracting license?

Any help would be very well received :)

    Sarah

  6. Hi

Sorry if you have already answered this question

We are importing a Triumph TR4 and a Triumph motorbike ...both classed as classic and we have the import licenses.

We have a container for our sole use which they will be shipped in so we know the costs there, however could you shed some light on what to expect to pay the other side as our shippers are not being clear :(

Also we have a 54 reg kia and a ducati monster motorbike ....would it just be stupid to consider taking them?

any help would be really helpful

    many thanks
