  1. Hi there, I am 85 and came to brisbane in 2011.  Well, don't know where to start!

Our only son lived here and wanted us to be near. Sold house in 2 hours, then had to move into accomodation. Big up heaval.  first advice, dont go for cheapest removals and don't share if you can afford it.  Goods were transferred on route and we lost a few things (tools, pics) and the ship wasn't the one that origanaly had our removals in.  Came in on a different ship.

Medically,  we got no help for 2 years, paid in full.  There was a safety limit, if you reached it, and then reductions.  After 2 years, the average cost per subscription for us is $6.    If you have hearing problems, no help financially.   You have to look for doctors that will "bulk bill"...you then don't pay if you have a "seniors card".        If you go to a specialist,  you will pay, and you get about half back from centre link.centre link is where you go with money issues.       You apply straight away for a seniors card, and also translink card for cheaper fares.     Bulk billed X rays free, and blood tests etc.

Interest rate is just above 2% but going down.  Don't lose your bank account in uk.  We have our FROZEN pensions paid into uk account, and when exchange rate is better, transfer to bank in uk. We move from tsb to yorks bs, and when ready, the more better,  Forex agents give us a rate to move.

10 years before a pension from oz, however, we won't have much money left if we r still around, so the pension will be made up and it is a better pension than uk.  Assets may make a difference and then adjustments.

Well, we have lived here for 6 years, no regrets, but we do have a good son.

    Just ask any about anything!
