  3. Hi

I did the same but only the nomination has been looked at and approved at this stage:

Nomination submitted 22 May - Approved 9 Oct

Visa Application submitted 6 Sept - still pending

I think the difference is that while my application wasn't sent in until late September my nomination had yet to be approved. From my understanding when speaking with them - if your nomination and application are both in together (before either is approved - even if not lodged at the same time) they still get looked at together when they do get assessed whereas if your nomination is approved before you lodge your application then your application is then subject to another waiting period which again could be as long as their quoted 6-8 months. My understanding at least.

So while my application went in in September my nomination is what started the waiting period (submitted back in June). So I still endured the 4 months of waiting but just risked submitting both together and therefore got it all approved in one go.

  4. It wasn't decision ready. I did it myself with my boss although we did have some issues with the training criteria as most of ours is on the job so I got an immigration lawyer to help with that part only (advice).

    I submitted:

Nomination - 22 May 2013 - Approved 9 Oct ( no case officer just an email confirming approval)

    186 Visa - 6 September - still in process

    Occupation is Graphic Designer

Hi was it decision ready by a MA? What profession if you don't mind me asking?
  5. Hi shelly!

    - You should have bridging visa after they acknowledged your visa application. However it is not in effect because you have a valid 457. By November, you should have your PR already. Otherwise, check with them to activate the bridging visa after your 457 expires.

    - Recommended is not alway needed. Stick to the document check list.

    - You should probably get moving with the medical, will save you some waiting time.

I've just phoned them, they said there is a 5-8 month waiting list!

  6. Hi All,

I have a few questions if anyone can help.

    Nomination submitted May 2013

Realised we used an out of date checklist so had to add the further two years training. Submitted the revised documents a few weeks later. I then came across so more information that made me believe that what my employer was claiming as training couldn't be. So I got an emigration specialist involved. A further document submitted for the training was submitted last week along with my visa.

    * My current 457 visa runs of November - does the bridging automatically happen?

    * When submitting my documents I noticed the "recommended" documents to upload that are not in the check list, such as evidence of relatives, evidence of residential address, do i need these?

    * online there is a link to get a medical referral letter, do i organise that or do i wait to be requested?

    Please help :)

  7. Hi and congratulations.

I am also doing the 186 visa myself. Can i ask your advice. I have uploaded the documents to the check list, however there are a lot 'recommended'. Do I need to do any of these, such as evidence of relatives, evidence of residential address etc?

My nomination was submitted 22 May 2013 and i have heard nothing. My visa i submitted last week.

  8. Hi All,

Feel sick with worry, suppose that is normal?

My employer lodge the nomination at the end of May 2013, to our horror we used the old checklist, didn't know it changed in March! - so our training benchmark was wrong (only last year not all years) the problem is the missing previous years we have only got on the job training and i am worried my employer hasn't provided enough information! We have added additional information and a cover letter explaining... Status says processing?? What does that mean?

My main problem is my visa runs out Nov so I have to apply and pay the $3060, which if the nomination is declined i will loose my money and visa!

Life is on hold, so stressed...*sighs

  9. Hi All,

    Very stressed Pom girl here.

My employer finally applied for the nomination for me 186, (with only 5 months left on my current visa) but we were using the 2012 check list so we didn't have all the right information uploaded (missing previous 2 years training benchmark). We have now since uploaded more evidence but i am worried its not enough and what affect this is going to have on the application. Has anyone applied for the nomination and visa separately? Does it take much longer? At the moment trying to fill out the online form and form 80 ready to apply.

Question - can I / should I book my medicals before i submit my visa application or do i need to wait?
