  1. I'm in a similar position as you, sadly however I do not have a skill on the SOL or CSOL lists so it's unlikely I'll ever be able to get a suitable visa to give me the opportunity to make a move over to Australia. If I did however (like you), I'd be on the next flight out - give it a shot, you only live once!

  2. Hello,

I've been to Australia on 2 separate occasions. The first was on a tourist visa and the second on a WHV last year.

I have family in the country and loved every minute I spent there, travelling and working.

I'd love to make a move out to Australia, for a whole host of different reasons, but based on my work experience etc, I know its probably not going to be possible.

Based on my work experience and qualifications (listed below), could someone please provide some advice on where I stand?

    Qualifications,

    9x GCSE's, 3x A-Levels, Diploma (Business & Finance) & BA(Hons) Degree (Business Administration).

    Work Experience,

8 years in Financial Services (Pensions), Senior Administration, Quality Assurance & Training.

Probably know what the answer is likely to be - but any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Matt

  3. I've recently returned from my trip to Australia on a WHV.

I'm selling my Berghaus Jalan 60 + 10 Backpack. It's in good condition with only a few marks. Cost £100 to buy new, I'm looking for £40.

Please PM if you are interested or require any further information.

    Thanks

    Matt

  4. I have recently returned from my trip to Australia on a WHV.

I'm selling my Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus, which is locked to the Telstra network.

It's in perfect condition as it has always had a screen protector and case on it.

It comes with the sim card and number I had been using and still has over $200 credit! The phone cost $79 new.

I'm looking for £50, please PM if interested or for further information.

    Thanks

    Matt

  5. Hi Rossy,

I'll be intrigued to see the responses to your question as I also land in Sydney in April with the aim of finding work asap!

You planning on staying in Sydney for a while? If so, will definitely have to meet for a beer!

  6. Hi Jodie,

Sounds good. I travelled for around 5 months back in 2009/10 and spent 2 months in Oz. So it's not necessarily a new thing to me, but being away for a year most certainly will be! It's a shame you didn't opt to fly into Sydney otherwise we would be landing on the same day!!

LostSoul, it will be a great experience for you I have no doubt! Have you given any thought into when you are likely to depart?

Have either of you sorted your WHV yet?

    Matt

  7. Hi LostSoul,

I am also 28 years old, dont like my job and have booked my flight over to Oz for April (land in Sydney).

I'm flying over alone and can't wait to start a new adventure. Think you just have to give these things a go and if you dont enjoy it the UK is only a days flying away! My advice would be to go for it!! In a couple of years time you wont be able to get a WHV and I expect you would regret not going if you decided to stay in the UK!!!

  8. Hey all,

Am looking to book my flight to Oz shortly. Skyscanner is showing the cheapest fare with China Southern. Has anyone flown with them before? Am a little sceptical as not heard of them! Any reviews/experiences welcome!

    Cheers

    Matt

  9. Hi Jack,

I'm hoping to arrive in Oz on or around 7th April. I havent booked my flight yet as am unsure as to which city I want to initially land in and find work. Sydney is definitely one of my stronger options though! We should keep in touch regarding each others plans and if I end up landing in Sydney we should meet up for a beer!

    Cheers

    Matt

  10. Hi everyone,

Just had my visa approved for my WHV

I'm planning on landing early April and doing my 3 months regional work straight away. From anyone who has already done this, has anyone any recommendations as to where is best or more easy to find work?

Want to get my flight booked and have no idea where to go to first!

    Any advice greatfully received!

    Thanks all!

    Matt

  11.

Just sent my online application for my whv! Fingers crossed it all goes through ok! Am so excited now, should be landing first week in April!

One quick question, has anyone had to have medical examinations done for a whv? It said on my summary page that I would need to arrange one? I assumed they would only need to be done for a permanent visa!
