Hello and welcome to PIO!

Hi all,
Â
I know the AU government are considering increasing the WHV eligibility age to 35....has anyone heard anything more on this recently....or know when a decision is due to be made?
Â
Cheers, Matt

I'm in a similar position as you, sadly however I do not have a skill on the SOL or CSOL lists so it's unlikely I'll ever be able to get a suitable visa to give me the opportunity to make a move over to Australia. If I did however (like you), I'd be on the next flight out - give it a shot, you only live once!

Hello,
Â
I've been to Australia on 2 separate occasions. The first was on a tourist visa and the second on a WHV last year.
Â
I have family in the country and loved every minute I spent there, travelling and working.
Â
I'd love to make a move out to Australia, for a whole host of different reasons, but based on my work experience etc, I know its probably not going to be possible.
Â
Based on my work experience and qualifications (listed below), could someone please provide some advice on where I stand?
Â
Qualifications,
Â
9x GCSE's, 3x A-Levels, Diploma (Business & Finance) & BA(Hons) Degree (Business Administration).
Â
Work Experience,
Â
8 years in Financial Services (Pensions), Senior Administration, Quality Assurance & Training.
Â
Probably know what the answer is likely to be - but any advice is greatly appreciated.
Â
Thanks
Matt

I've recently returned from my trip to Australia on a WHV.
Â
I'm selling my Berghaus Jalan 60 + 10 Backpack. It's in good condition with only a few marks. Cost £100 to buy new, I'm looking for £40.
Â
Please PM if you are interested or require any further information.
Â
Thanks

I have recently returned from my trip to Australia on a WHV.
Â
I'm selling my Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus, which is locked to the Telstra network.
Â
It's in perfect condition as it has always had a screen protector and case on it.
Â
It comes with the sim card and number I had been using and still has over $200 credit! The phone cost $79 new.
Â
I'm looking for £50, please PM if interested or for further information.
Â
Thanks

Hey!
Â
I'm Matt, (29 years old) and am landing in Sydney on 8th April. I then plan on heading up towards Cairns to do my regional work for 3 months.....but nothing set in stone yet.
Â
Where you planning on heading initially?
-
Well we should definitely keep in touch Jodie!
-
Hi Rossy,
Â
I'll be intrigued to see the responses to your question as I also land in Sydney in April with the aim of finding work asap!
Â
You planning on staying in Sydney for a while? If so, will definitely have to meet for a beer!
-
I'll probably be in/around Sydney then, but keep us posted on your plans and if we cross paths we can meet for a beer!
-
Hi Jodie,
Â
Sounds good. I travelled for around 5 months back in 2009/10 and spent 2 months in Oz. So it's not necessarily a new thing to me, but being away for a year most certainly will be! It's a shame you didn't opt to fly into Sydney otherwise we would be landing on the same day!!
Â
LostSoul, it will be a great experience for you I have no doubt! Have you given any thought into when you are likely to depart?
Â
Have either of you sorted your WHV yet?
Â

Hi Jodie, I land in Sydney on 8th April and will be 29! In the same boat as you and am looking forward to a year out. Hoping to do some work initially and then go with the flow! Have you got your flight booked?
-
I've set up my bank account with NAB. They were really efficient and had sent over all my documentation and online banking stuff within a matter of days!
-
I'm flying into Sydney in the first week of April and then taking things from there
-
Hi LostSoul,
Â
I am also 28 years old, dont like my job and have booked my flight over to Oz for April (land in Sydney).
Â
I'm flying over alone and can't wait to start a new adventure. Think you just have to give these things a go and if you dont enjoy it the UK is only a days flying away! My advice would be to go for it!! In a couple of years time you wont be able to get a WHV and I expect you would regret not going if you decided to stay in the UK!!!

I'm flying out to Oz in April, but am going over to Sydney first. I am aiming to head to Perth around October, so if you are still there when I arrive am more than happy to meet for a beer (or five!)
-
Hey all,
Â
Am looking to book my flight to Oz shortly. Skyscanner is showing the cheapest fare with China Southern. Has anyone flown with them before? Am a little sceptical as not heard of them! Any reviews/experiences welcome!
Â
Cheers

Hi Jack,
Â
I'm hoping to arrive in Oz on or around 7th April. I havent booked my flight yet as am unsure as to which city I want to initially land in and find work. Sydney is definitely one of my stronger options though! We should keep in touch regarding each others plans and if I end up landing in Sydney we should meet up for a beer!
Â
Cheers

Hello and welcome to PIO! Best of luck with the visa application. Hope all goes well!
-
Hi everyone,
Â
Just had my visa approved for my WHV
Â
I'm planning on landing early April and doing my 3 months regional work straight away. From anyone who has already done this, has anyone any recommendations as to where is best or more easy to find work?
Â
Want to get my flight booked and have no idea where to go to first!
Â
Any advice greatfully received!
Â
Thanks all!
Matt

Â
Just sent my online application for my whv! Fingers crossed it all goes through ok! Am so excited now, should be landing first week in April!
Â
One quick question, has anyone had to have medical examinations done for a whv? It said on my summary page that I would need to arrange one? I assumed they would only need to be done for a permanent visa!
-
Hi Adrian, it's currently 80 pounds at Millets
-
I've just brought a Berghaus 60+10 for my trip. They seem one of the better brands. Would definitely recommend

Hi Daniel,
Â
I am planning on flying out at the end of March or beginning of April. Have you decided where you are flying to yet?

Happy New Year all!
Just a quick one on this, does anybody know whether the Australian government are considering increasing the WHV age from 30 to 35 for British citizens too?
Thanks in advance!
