Hi,
I am after some information for a friend in the UK. He has had two WHV and would now like to live in Australia with his partner. He is in his 30's, has no ties as far as family and is studying Psychology. What options are available for him?

I am looking for advice on transferring Superannuation from the UK. My husband and I are now looking to pool our money in the UK with our Superannuation in Australia, as we are planning our retirement. I worked for the Education Department for a few years and my husband worked for the NHS for many years. We have no idea how to go about this, so would appreciate some advice. Thank you.

My daughter, her hubby and their children are all coming over to Aus in April to wait the time out here for their partner visa to be granted, as my daughter has to be here to validate her PR. They are 8 months in and are aware that they will have to leave Aus and be offshore when it is granted. Her husband and children are coming on 600 visa's, which were recommended to them, as their family might be separated for a long period of time. I was wondering if anyone had done this and if immi had questioned them at the airport, as you are meant to prove funds and that you are returning to the UK, as it is a tourist visa?

If the visas overlap then yes, it is possible afaik.
He would have been better to have applied for a tourist visa a while back than now, getting closer to possible grant time.
I'd suggest he email his CO and inform them he is intending to apply for a tourist visa now.
Why the 600? There is a fee for that one isn't there? And its a bit more of a long winded process to apply for and gain I thought. There are other tourist visas that are free and a decision back within 24 hours usually.
Thanks for the reply snifter..600 visa recommended by Aus House because of their circumstances. I will pass on this info to my daughter.

Hi ? I would like some info on the 600 holiday visa, if anyone can help. My daughter's husband is 8 months into applying for the Partner visa 309/100 and they want to come onshore before grant. Could the 600 visa override the Partner visa if the 309/100 was granted before it?

Don't forget the time stamp is the time in Australia regardless of where you logged in.
Also I have it set in settings that I am emailed anytime my account is logged in.

Hi all ? and many congrats to people who have recently received their grants! Good news! I can remember when I was applying for my Former Resident visa the emotions and rollercoaster of it all, even though it's been many years!
A quick question...my daughter has noticed that her immi account has been logged into. It was logged into last night when they were in bed. Any ideas??

Hi everybody,
We just had our 309 visa granted in just under 8 months! My partner (applicant) is a UK citizen and I am the Australian sponsor. Our timeline is below:
Applied: 14 May 2015
CO Assigned: 25 June 2015
Medical: 18 November 2015
Police Check: 24 November 2015
Granted: 6 January 2015
Throughout the entire process we didn't hear from our CO once. We received a few automatically generated e-mails and that's it. Our application was processed and granted in very quick time for some reason. We uploaded our documents very carefully and grouped relative categories (e.g. bank statements) into one large .pdf in order to help our CO read it all. It also maximises the amount that can be uploaded (I believe it is 60 documents, each with a max file size of 5MB).
Thank you to everybody on here for all your advice and guidance along the way.

Hoping to head back to Blue Mountains NSW, where I'm from originally, but nothing is ever set in stone!
Ahh, a beautiful place! We love Perth as it is where I am from, but we'd love to get over to NSW soon again. It is our 30th Wedding Anniversary next year, so maybe then. In the meantime we are excited about our daughter & her family hopefully getting their grant soon ?

Ahh, it's a long nerve wracking process. My daughter is feeling the same way, so I'm doing my best to keep her calm. We can't wait to have them here with us in Aus

Any ideas what, if anything, I should read into this email I've just received from the London office....?
"Dear Client, We are writing regarding your partner migration visa which is being processed at the London office. We can confirm that we are now able to proceed further with your application and you are requested to provide any outstanding information requested made by your case officer within 40 calendar days of this email. If you do not respond to this request within this time frame, a decision will be made on your application based on the information contained on your file"
They have given no clues about what information they're on about!!! I attached the police check to the application, but the doctor said he would send it directly to the department, he was given the HAP number etc. I assume he did this.
Anyone else had an email like this?! Don't know whether to be happy or worried...!

My daughter has also received this email today. She has PR and is sponsoring her husband and children. They frontloaded everything on submission of their application including Police Check and medicals, so have no further info to send. When did you apply? I am thinking it's another stage in the process and as it was an automated message, it will be for those who haven't submitted Police checks and medicals. Here's hoping it's bringing you one more step closer to the grant!!

This is like waiting for something after you've handed over the dosh and it suddenly goes dark, it's pitch black, they've switched the lights off & I'm not quite sure how it all works. If it wasn't for this forum I'd be panicking that I'd sent the money accidentally to the milkman and not the consulate. We have got an 'application received' & I am sure the little munchkins are beavering their way through the applications, as I note a '7 mth processing time' *not eager*. We submitted 309/100 15/10/15, not allocated a CO as yet. Safe and happy travels to those that have got to the green light. Fab.People need to ignore the timeframe given on the main Gov website I'm afraid. That timeframe of 5 months ended about 4-5 years ago. Since then its only gotten longer and times have not been updated there. Ideal world and all that the info would be current but they are not.For anyone considering applying for an off shore partner visa in the UK they should refer to the Aus High Commission London website

They list the current wait times as (what most are currently working out from) 10-14 months. Grants can often happen a bit sooner than the 10 month mark but this is not a given and people should work to the actual timeframe given not expect it sooner. If it does then get granted sooner, fab bonus, if not, they are not fretting or feeling let down its not yet been granted

Do you ever stop to wonder how many other people have applied for partner/PMV visas and don't subscribe to PIO? I guess there's lots. How on earth do they get through the process without the support and info we get here???

Congratulations to everyone who have had visa grants!! My daughter's partner is only 4 months in and this thread has been so helpful already. I found PiO many years ago after our family had emigrated in 1999. I had grown up in Aus from 1966 and after 33 years on a Former Resident visa I returned with my own family. PiO has helped us so many times through the years, so you're spot on Wan2go!
Members have come and gone and I pop in every so often, but everytime there is a fount of info, knowledge and wisdom. So many thanks to all who have helped over the years and now -
I think thats a wise decision with multiple people on the application. Hopefully the visa will be granted by then. Atm some people seem to be getting grants at close to the 10 month mark so fingers crossed for them all it keeps that timeline.
If they've booked their flights and have the tourist visas in place an email to the CO a couple of weeks before flying out might get the green light and get the grant notice before they depart. It might not, so they need to have a plan to fly off shore for 3 working days (NZ is good for this).
Also for kids I am not sure of how it would work for them to be enrolled at schools on a tourist visa. I think they can only attend for a limited time and possibly have to pay international student fees which can be a big chunk of cash. Far better to wait till the proper visa is through so they can attend as Aus residents from the off.

Hello. We applied for the free evisitor visa which you do via your online immi account. It took a couple of days to come through. My partner had the confirmation email they gave him printed out ready to show immigration when we got to Australia but they never asked for it. Everything is electronic these days so they would have had a record on his passport.

This is a standard to be expected response tbh. The CO is not responsible for the tourist visa or them entering Aus and so can only give out the standard about such a visa and the requirements of it and what immigration will be expecting etc. They have no say in what immigration may do if they feel a person entering Aus on a tourist visa is not genuine etc. So they have to explain it this way.
Honestly, if you read all the blurb for the off shore partner visa is covers things like people are advised to not sell house, resign from jobs or any other major life changing things in advance of the visa grant. And for obvious reasons. They (CO's and the department) cannot definitively say a visa will be granted and neither can they say exactly when, if it is granted, it will happen. So the advice is to not put eggs into one basket and chuck everything in before a visa is granted. Makes sense to me. Anyone wishing to do this though does so at their own risk.
Now, having said that, quite a few do travel to Aus ahead of a grant (and if its just the partner its not such a big thing as a visa application including kids). Usually its in the latter stages when its perhaps a month or two away and not 4 months into a 10-14 month process. You don't say exactly when they plan to head to Aus. Is it soon as in a few weeks or a month or two, 3 or 4 months away, near the 10 month mark after lodging? I ask as if its soon, then yes, they could face issues if they are on a 3 month entry and so they will have to depart Aus at the end of 3 months and then re enter iirc. And so on. And of course, coming back in after one 3 month stint may raise eyebrows and questions. So might entering at any point on a longer term tourist visa on one way tickets. It is what it is and immigration are within their rights to question and deny entry if they feel the visit isn't genuine.
You says its the partner and kids entering on tourist visas. Are the kids therefore included on the partner visa application?
Thanks for all the info snifter..much appreciated! We had to go all through the visa stuff and remember the advice to stay put until your visa's are granted, which as you say is spot on. It was nearly 20 years ago but, so a lot has changed. They were planning to come to Aus in January, so 6 months into their application, but we have talked to our daughter about what you said as far as coming so early, and they have decided to wait until the beginning of April now. If the visa still hasn't been granted, at least it wont be too long away.
