  1. Hey,

I have to ask....did you get asked to submit the form 80?? I have just nearly fell off my chair seeing how much detail it wants & laughed when I read your initial thread about pulling your hair out! I'm the same...preparing it just in case they ask for it at some stage...but no way do I remember all my holidays in the last 10 years!!!

Jambolina, we were asked to submit this along with other documents, the day after our agent sent everything over our visa was granted, so do you reckon they actually read any of it????

  2. Register with a currency transfer company and then compare what they will give you against the current trading rate. Some will give you fee free transfers but then the rate they will give you is lower, if you have a lot of money to transfer then I find its better to pay a small fee to get a better rate. I use currencyfair, $4 per transfer but the rate they give you is very close to trading rate. Good luck xx

  3. I leave for Oz next week and am currently doing the goodbye rounds in Scotland as we speak so forgive me if this is more than confusing (too many alcohol induced lunches/dinners). The English cannot vote for the SNP so could have voted Labour, UKIP won how many seats at the election??? I am neither elitist, selfish or greedy and certainly not an Etonian tosser, don't even think they would give a working class Dundonian like me any time whatsoever, have a father who could outdo Stalin on his communist views, BUT along with my husband, having worked bloody hard to start up and then run successfully 2 companies ( where all employees are paid more than double the minimum/living wage) I could not and would not vote for Labour who are hell bent on believing that all private companies that do well, are the scourge of the country. My husband whilst building up his companies, supplemented his non income by going cabbing every evening, and when he was at home I was going to college/night school to learn how to do his accounts, this went on for 4 years. Are we now happy to hand over 50% or more of our profits to fund the country, when we sacrificed so so much, not on your nelly. Yes there are large companies that are able to avoid paying large tax bills, but this has happened under both governments because they realise the implications of scrapping the tax loopholes. And still the left wing go on about the bankers, I have watched several adverts in the last 24 hours that would reduce my utility bills alone, BT and Sky spring to mind straight away. Why do we think its ok to pay "celebrities" huge amounts of money to advertise a service that we need or want when we cannot/should not pay bonuses to people that have generated business/money for this country? My dad still insists that Thatcher is today responsible for the lack of social housing in the whole of the country, but cannot seem to grasp that the Left Wing held power for 10 years in which this could have been over turned!!

  4. UK is plenty big enough to accept a share of those judged in need of asylum rather than purely economic migrants. As I mention with some repetition a quota system of so many thousand a year would be the way to go until something more durable can be sorted out among all nations being impacted.

Nothing to do with bleeding hearts but pure common sense. UK is far from the most impacted. The bigger picture certainly needs to be looked and solutions sought but without the shrillness of the right of politics who too often lead debate on the matter in Britain.

Why do you always have to assume that someone is right wing because they do not agree with a mass influx of refugees/asylum seekers/immigrants? Can someone not just be level headed enough to realise that our country has enough financial demands as it is, and by continually adding to this, cannot be sustained long term.

  5. Well that does appear to be the right wing thought process on the matter. Question why would France be expected to take all in when UK will not contribute to a quota? A large number by all accounts do have family of some sort already living in UK. Benefits are hardly great in UK. Look to get worse as well.

I do apologise, if they know someone then of course we should just let them wander right on in! Its all very well having a bleeding heart but that is not going to feed, house, clothe, educate etc etc, these immigrants. And to answer your question, I do not expect that France should have to take them all in, I did say France/Europe as I do not know which other safe countries they have passed through in order to be standing in Calais tearing down the fences. If these immigrants weren't so intent on getting to the UK then Europe, as a whole, would be doing a lot more to stop it. You can't focus solely on the 1200 or so immigrants that are trying to get into the UK right now but see the bigger picture, there are millions that will come if we don't stop it. And aside from the financial impact on the Uk, our little island just isn't big enough.

  6. I think those that apply for a visa due to having "essential skills that Australia needs & wants" & then don't go, should feel guilty, but for those of us that move heaven & earth & spend many a great penny, should feel no guilt for going & then coming back for whatever reason that is. We have been given a 4yr temp business visa & we intend to see this out, but if we fail or we just decide that Oz isn't the land of honey then I will come home a little poorer but with no shame or guilt whatsoever!

  7. One thing that you have to consider is that you may not fly out on the plane that was stipulated at time of booking. Twice now we have booked seats on an A380 and both times plane was downgraded. I'm assuming this is because of not enough passengers!!

  8. You are way behind the curve on this one, I think you should have started it many months ago. Do not delay any further but take them to the vets as soon as you possibly can. Your dogs need a clear six months before they can travel - to avoid quarantine that is and I am sure you would not subject your dogs to that ordeal.

Dogs still need to go in to quarantine although it is only 10 days now.

  9. Thanks Jackie, seeing the timeline is really handy as you say there are not many 188's out there.

Can you elaborate on what business docs Immi needed? How much did they look at in terms of your business history versus your business plan/idea for Australia?

Re the business docs, it seemed like we sent them everything & anything. We have 2 businesses and although we met the criteria for the visa appl with just 1, they wanted everything on both companies. 3 years accounts and then management accounts at a date set by Immi, all our initial docs from companies house & HMRC upon registration, 3yrs of vat returns and a letter of confirmation from HMRC re year end accounting dates, 3 yrs worth of evidence that hubby has day to day involvement in the companies and this is only the stuff that I can remember. As well as business docs, we had to get all our personal assets valued at 3 separate dates and we had to complete Form 80 for both of us.

We submitted the last lot of docs on the 12/3 and had our visa granted on Friday 13th. Was any of the requested info looked at, I wonder???

Our business plan was about 200 words and wouldn't even get us a bank loan here so I don't think that was even taken into consideration!

Be prepared for the worst & if you don't get asked for half of the above then you'll be pleasantly surprised, Good luck

  10. No not talking about the costs of coffee's again!:laugh:My friend who drinks tea, swears that you always have to use fresh water in the kettle. So if she boiled the kettle 2 hrs ago,she then empties whatever water is left in the kettle and re fills it.Me?I'm not bothered and actually can't taste any difference to using fresh or pre boiled.I take my tea with milk and sugar.Coffee,I like to use ground coffee in a cafetierre/plunger,and change coffee varieties quite often as I like a change.I add milk and sugar first before pouring in the coffee! I enjoy a hot choc too, usually make that with skimmed milk!So how do you make/like your cuppa's?

Don't drink tea, can't stand the stuff!! But I do the fresh water in the kettle for every coffee I have, and not only that but I have to have the cold tap running for a good few secs before I will fill the kettle.
