My husband and I are English, we lived in Wellington, NZ for about 7 years (we have NZ passports) before moving to Sydney in 2007 where we had two children. I have a sibling and nieces in Sydney. We moved back to the UK in 2012, our reasons at the time were financial and for our children to be near grandparents in the UK. After a short time back, we both regretted our decision, however our parents are here and obviously getting older. I am desperate to move back to Australia as is my husband. Our children are 10 and 8, they both love sport and also want to move although we don’t discuss it with them. They are obviously both in school, my husband has his own business here. Are we mad to move back or do I wait it out and hope my feelings change? I feel desperate that we have only one life and we are getting older as are our children. Do I stay here for our parents or do we greatly upset them by moving back again. I am at the stage of wishing I could be brain-washed to forget about Australia but it just won’t leave me Has anyone been in a similar position and what advice could you give?
I’m in exactly the same boat, desperate to go back but worried about leaving my aging parents and devastating them

Our cat was a hunter which was hated by our Australian neighbors who regularly caught her in a cat trap and took her to the pound, costing $100 each time to get her out, she also unfortunately enjoyed snake catching, we tried to keep her in but she was so miserable, last time she was seen was with a snake in her mouth and she never came back, think her hunting got the better of her in the end ?

If my dad applies for a non contributory parent visa whilst in Australia is there any way he can then stay in the country and access his pension as I believe they can take many years to be granted.
-
Just a quick question if my dad applies for non contributory visa in Australia can he stay while it is processed or does he have to leave as I believe these can take up to 20 years to process and he is 71 now ( we can't afford contributory)

Thanks all, when we got our visas in 2008 we got 2 years to activate but this must have changed, loan might be the only option to activate but didnt really want to get more in debt.

We recently got permanent residence for our grandsdon, however we were told it would take 18 months, we got his visa in 10 weeks which may seem fantastic but he needs to enter Australia by June this year, unfortunately our house sale will probably not be complete in time and until the house is sold we do not have funds for a holiday to activate his visa, Australia house said the visa must be activated by this date or it will be cancelled, or we could risk appealing after the date, does anyone know what our chances of winning the appeal would be. We had timed it so the 18 months process would fit in, plus you used to get 2 years to activate your visa.

We are permanent residents looking to return to oz next year, can anyone give me a review of Pimpama state high as house prices look reasonable there, just want to make sure the school is good. Also my daughter wants to do her nurse training, is there any financial help for PR as i believe HECS is only for citizens now. Thanks in advance.
