My daughter's friend moved to Javea with her family when she was 12 and went to http://en.laudeladyelizabeth.com.
She seemed to do well from there and is now back in the UK studying for A levels at college. She picked up Spanish easily once she was immersed in it.
I'm sure you've seen this website, but just in case... http://www.gsgi.co.uk/countries/spain
My mil moved to Denia over 10 years ago and is now in a residential home out there having a fabulous time. There is a big expat community there, not just Brits, but Germans and Dutch. We go to visit often and while I wouldn't want to live in Denia itself, I'd be happy to live in some of the surrounding villages and I'd be very happy in Valencia! We're looking at possibly buying somewhere there too.
Our children always had expat children to play with in and around Denia when we visited when they were younger, so it's not only older people who move to the area.
Hola Caramac.............my Norwich buddy!
Hope you are well?

Whereabouts in Andalucia? We've moved to the UK for various reasons but are not settling. I think moving to either Spain or Italy would be our ideal solution - still within reach of family but not in the UK - but my oh is very worried about the language barrier. We've thought about moving to an area with a big British community but a lot of them sound like Blackpool on the Med, not our kind of thing at all.
Oh Dear.............better not tell you where I originally come from then?
Oooopsie
You can move to Spain and immerse yourself in the Spanish lifestyle without even touching the "Northern UK" on the coastal areas
It truly depends on what you want from your relocation...............learning the language IMO is a must whether it be coastal OR inland.......we are after all in a "host" country of your choice so why not?
I live on the border of Granada/Malaga.............40 mins from the coast and 20 mins from the Sierra Nevada.........Sunbaking and Skiing all in one day
-
Hi All............I moved from Sydney to Andalucía so if I can help anyone with anything please just ask...........I don't know it all but I have certainly learnt a lot:wink:

On a WHV ALL Temporary Residents are entitled to a Tax Refund when they leave?
PS
She travelled August to May
-
YES!
Absolutely
Thank you for your reply

Can anyone advise or share their experiences please?
My Daughter worked in Australia for a year.................normal job/wage etc.........nothing above the norm
7 years later the UK Tax Office are demanding a re payment for money owed to them during the year she lived and worked in OZ
We have sent them wage slips.....TFN......super annuation payments etc which proves she paid tax but to no avail
She got the usual refund when she left OZ as a temporary resident less than 1000 AUD so I'm at a loss to understand why
Any help/advice appreciated
TIA

I was just on another site where a lady posted that she flew her very healthy 2 year old dog to Australia (obviously cost a fair bit as it was quite a big breed) and when it reached oz, it was dead!
Worried that I'll be putting my sookie, gorgeous little girl through a big trauma- she is naturally a quiet, people loving little lap dog, I had no idea when we got her that we would be contemplating a move back to the UK. now I'm feeling totally cruel that she might not cope with this.
Do the vets give them something to help or does anyone have any advice on this? Esp if you have the quieter, more lap dog types?
I could not leave her here, she is part of our pack!
I sincerely HOPE I can allay your fears..............
DEAD Dog is down to the Pilot OR the said Dogs Health!

Personal experience AND an Aviation Employee
I moved mine from SYD-HKG-LHR-AGP..............Spain

I was without them 10 days total...........never left them before
Aged 7 and 10
Trust your instinct and GO for it...........
In all my years............Deceased Dog.......................1

Fatalities are Pilot Error OR Natural causes.............very rare in this modern day
Good luck whatever you decide and please PM if I can be of further reassurance............if at all

Wow.......wow and wow............
I am so disappointed to hear this..................shocking
I am so sorry for your loss
Have you pursued this and asked her why?
WHEN you first enquired did they not send you a quote?
I assume you bought the crate to get your doggie used to it first without locking in a date?
I really am very sorry to hear this
Absolutely shocking customer service considering I quote....from you on an earlier date
Im sure they will be fine...I have every confidence in Narelle since meeting her
You and me both
I would chase this up..............she can't get away with treating people like this

What is the layover/turnaround time?
I can assure you it is possible for the plane to refuel whilst the aircon is still at temp as in not exactly "on" but imagine the temp after 7plus hours flight? If turnaround is 50mins ....usual.... then there's plenty of time before it starts to creep................it is a separate entity to the rest of the aircraft............
However.............it depends on the layover time and how many "live cargo" are on the flight as to how the operation will proceed

YES
We had not known anyone for the 2 year period before application so our children's teacher counter signed and it was all good............for example............teacher knowing we were committing to OZ for x amount of years even though technically we had only been there 17mths

How are things going with you?
I had my first wobble this week - a very childish moment, my friends went to the cinema and I wasn't invited I had been asked if I was going out and I said yes but not until later because it was my son's first day at school and I wanted to put him to bed first. When I texted to find out where they were I happened to pick a friend who hadn't gone out and she said they were all at the cinema. Clearly I was being ridiculous but I felt really tearful! I think there have been so many stories on here of people finding that friends fade away after the initial excitement on their return that I read far too much into it. I thought i had fully prepared myself to accept I may not have the same friends (I'd only known them 5 years when we migrated) but it has been idyllic so far so I guess I have started to expect it to be like that (& I'm pretty sure it will be!)
Ahhh thanks for asking
To be honest.............all ok BUT it's been difficult
No water.............no electric...............just the basic stuff but we have hit the ground running
So much to do
But we have achieved a lot so far
No worries with "Friends" etc as we don't know anyone here BUT it's amazing how quickly the Ozzie Friends drop off and the UK ones still can't be bothered to make the effort when you are only 2 hours away SO I do identify with what you said re: your Friends
Must admit feeling a bit homesick for OZ.............people, places etc BUT I have lots of exploring to do here now..........no desire to hit the UK just yet lol
Hope all is good with you Lady R and sorry for my late reply
-
Blobby..............I used to read all your posts............so good to hear an update from you.............thanks for posting the update and I hope things continue to improve for you...........it's a hard thing to go through
Caramac............my Norwich Buddy............good to see you still posting too............glad all is well with you
I'm not missing too much from Australia at the moment but I'm only 4 months in so time will tell although I have to say............I'm cold going into Autumn when my head thinks I should be in Spring/Summer lol
Best wishes to you both

We have insured a number of claims free moves back from Australia including those packed and shipped by OSS Worldwide, Kent Int, Crown Relo, Chess Removals and Wridgways.
These are not recommendations - only suggestions.
IYM
Really?
I asked you for a quote back in July to insure my shipment.....................you said you didn't offer it Oz-UK???

Sorry
Just put in your postcode first to check for delivery in your area

IMHO
Having gone to NSW on a 457 and paying $4500 per Child for PUBLIC School I think every potential 457 Visa Holder should factor this cost in as we did!
However.................I do think it should be waived for those that are already in situ in WA as it has been mentioned previously the majority earn a modest wage and it must be very worrying to try and find this money by next January

With Grace
-
We used Grace around $6500 for a sole use container but we did all the packing other than fraglie items ourselves - they wrapped the furniture, packed fragile items and loaded the container.
We were more than happy with the service.
Interesting LR
We moved at the same time
I paid $10000
Obviously to Spain not the UK but it's a heck of a difference

I'm bumping your post because "well done you for having the cajones to put yourself out there" Unfortunately I cannot help with the area as I was in Sydney myself but I moved when my child was 14 and she's doing fine...........We're originally from Blackpool too.............just go and embrace it Love, it will be what you make it
Anyone out there to help with the area of "Ipswich" ???
