  1. That's great news, good luck

    Thanks.

I think it went well, very nice people and seem willing to help with our journey, would have got the job had I been there, but they want me to stay in touch and see them when we arrive so all is good.

Now back to talking about were all the gold and jewels are hiding :jimlad:

  2. Nigel, there is a great place you can learn and that's here. BobJ is a guru on this and is very very supportive of young ones who throw numerous questions at him over and over again. Where are you heading and how old is your son? I can get my youngest to help him a little but as I say BobJ is your main man. We just need to convince him he has to get another road trip organized for 2014, although i think I will be banned from it if he does lol.

Seriously though Bob showed my youngest what to look for and where to go. He has been busy since we got back home changing schools etc, but once he is settled again i am sure he will tell you and show you what he has found.

Hi Pom Queen. Sorry have not answered you have been busy trying to get house and things sorted out. We are heading for Brisbane not sure what part as that will depend on Schools. My Son will be 14 when we arrive.

  3. Plenty of good, if out-of-the-way places to fossick, not only in Qld, but all over this magnificent country. Almost everything to suit all tastes, from agates to opals to zircons, they can be found in Australia.

    Cheers, Bobj.

Are there places were you can learn what to look for? I know my son will love this and would come home well loaded up with stuff, daughter does not believe you can find gold and things just lying around.

    Thanks

    Nigel

  4. Heading to Brisbane in the next 12 months. Will also be looking for a new bike. Cruisers and custom parts. Loud and proud :-)

We are going to be there in the next couple of months.Might be the one selling you a bike.

  5. Yes, a lot of apartments, students and otherwise, around the shopping mall and main roads. I think there's a lot of quiet leafy family areas in Indooroopilly as well though. Students can't afford those areas :) That's probably the beauty of it for some. Can live quiet and leafy but also be close enough to major services, shopping and public transport.

    Say around these parts:

The inner west is the highest demographic area of Brisbane so schools and services usually match.

    Thanks fish.

You are right some nice looking areas, big attraction for us is the High school as they have no uniform (which my daughter hates wearing) and it has a good reputation. but way may end up somewhere completely different.

  6. 2002 R6 = $700 a year rego (road tax). $1000 a year insurance.

Cops baiting people on bikes in old WRX

    109kph in a 100 zone = ticket and 2 points

    Mentally disabled drivers (esp QLD).

Horrible place to ride a road bike....

Thanks always has to be one kill joy.:happy_face_cowboy_w

still lots of jobs in bike dealers so someone must be buying and riding:Randy-git:

  7. I live in Kenmore, so just over from there. It's not a bad area, but it's very close to UQ St Lucia campus so lots and lots of students live there. For that reason, if you want quiet, you'd have to pick your place very carefully... it's more apartments there than houses. There's a pretty good shopping centre, but not too much else. I've not got any personal experience with that school, but equally heard nothing bad either.

You may want to consider Kenmore, it's only a few minutes further, quiet, more suburban. Kenmore State High has a really good rep.

    Hi

Thanks for the information. Area does look nice, houses seem a bit larger and nicer. Looking at school website Indooroopilly seems a better fit for my kids, but will check both out.

    Nigel

  8. Only been here 3 months and just bought my second bike, went round a good few dealers, not ethe best experience with the first one but bought the 2nd from team moto in moorooka and they were fantastic

Thanks. Team Moto is one I am looking at

  9. Looking for information on the dealers. As will be looking for work with one of them and it is nice to know how they treat their customers so can get and idea of how they might treat their staff.

Also will be looking to get my daughter an off road bike ( had to promise to get her one) so am looking at what training there is for kids.

  10. We are currently looking for rentals (Brisbane) after struggling along for 6 months paying NO rent! (family). Yes, rents are high and I have to say we are really depressed about the whole thing. Its all well and good to suggest living in caravan parks etc ,(which we have looked at), but a safe environment is pretty high on the list as we have a child. (And I am actually Brisbane born and bred so can say that I have a good idea about how most in these here parts actually are).

We are renting a property in UK (3 bedroom semi) for £750 a month. Our budget here is $400 a week or below. I only earn $1140 per fortnight and my husband has just got a job after 6 months of looking. We actually have no idea how much he will have until the first pay packet and it is variable due to shifts. We don't have a stick of furniture.

It's pretty hard. We have been here 6 months and haven't done any sight seeing at all, except for the free stuff locally of course! Neither of us smoke or drink.

    Im keeping on looking ....

The following schools in Brisbane/ Gold Coast are Dyslexia friendly

and in Melbourne area http://www.monterey.vic.edu.au/ is working on it.

  12. Hi,

Anyone have any experience with the Silkwood school, Gold Coast? Apparently there is a waiting list, but I'm apprehensive to go on it without viewing the campus.

It seems like the perfect fit for my kids & I'd hate for them to love the school, only to be told we should have put their names down!

    thanks!

Hi Did you send you children to this school. We are looking at it for our two.

    Thanks

  13. If you can not cut and past it I can try to make it into a fill in form later and yes it has to be signed by a professional person. Put as much information as you can as Pablo said just do not make things up that you did not do as it is a legal document and could come back to haunt you.

  14. Are you in the uk? is so then use this cut and past in to word and fill in the blanks [ ]

  15. Hi

I think TRA has passed it on to Vetassess to do assessments this page shows what you have to do http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/ts_assessment_process.cfm it also has links to where, when and how much.

Also there is a self test that you have to do here http://www.tradeset.com.au/ to start with.

Sorry can not tell you what is involved, but am sure someone will be along to explain it or you can search the forum for information
