  1. Hey Andy, I'm based in Melbourne, but like yourself i came to oz alone, don't worry it wont be long until you meet people. It helps staying in hostels and becoming a member of a club or something like that, im sure you will meet loads of people mate!
  2. Yea, i did a lot of work in sales before in australia, these jobs when you go to the interview will have a base wage of 200$ per week, but if you make x amount of sales you will jump up to 1500 a week. In reality 95% of people will never meet the sales target and will be closer to $200 than $1500
  3. Costs depend on companies, be careful of companies that give you quotes like "from 99$". You usually end up paying a lot more, i know i was burned my first time round. You may be entitled to claim tax back, however you need to be careful, if you apply for tax back and you have not been in the country for 6 months, or have had even a short holiday to fiji for a week, meaning you have never done a 6 month block without leaving oz, you wont be entitled to tax back and can even be fined if you lodge with the ATO!
  4. I think them checking very much depends on which country you arrive from. That being said, i would make sure to bring sufficient funds to Aus with you, it can take a while to find a job and Australia can be expensive.
  5. Actually in relation to your question posted, it is possible to claim all of your tax back, but its very dependant on each individual case as Australian tax law is very complicated, for example if you file a claim yourself wrongly you can be fined by the ATO. I myself did a year, claimed my tax and super back when i returned home and am now back for my second year, so you can do that no problem at all.
  6. Hi Danny, i work with taxbacker so if you have any questions you can pm me for some answers. Cheers Brian.
