  1. Great stuff. Thanks for that. I'll start gettting the paperwork together.
  2. Hi there everone. I just wondered if there was anyone out there who could point me in the right direction. My wife, a nurse, has been leading the whole process of getting us out to Oz and has secured 189 Visas for herself, me and our two girls, and we are heading to Queensland before the end of the year. The initial plan is that she will work full time while I look after getting the girls settled in schools. Once that is sorted the intention is that I will return to work and look to go full time so she can reduce her hours and spend more time with the children. I am currently an Early Years teacher (teaching 4 to 5 year olds) with a 3 year degree in Humanities, a PGCE, and 6 years of teaching experience. I am aware teaching appears to be over-subscribed as a profession and realise I might have to look at other avenues ( I have previously worked in sales and as a sub-editor) but I just want to know what I would need to do to go about getting registered if I already have the 189 and if that is something I should try and sort out here before we leave or should do after we have arrived? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Matt
  3. Thanks ever so much for that. We thought it was but just wanted to make sure. Onwards and upwards!
  4. Hi there. We received our EOI invitation on Dec 19th 2016. We submitted our SC189 visa application and paid for it on January 9th and started uploading our documents. When we log into ImmiAccount our status shows our application and documents have been received but today we received an email from Skill Select saying that our EOI expires in 19days. Is this just an automated email that we should ignore or do we have to get medicals/police checks done in the next 19 days? Thanks for any help in advance.
  5. I'm looking at starting the registration process. Does anyone know if it is possible to register without a visa? I have previously been registered in NSW during a one year working holiday so now need to complete an AGEN40 and I believe part of the criteria is having a valid visa. Am I right in thinking if I register first I can do a modified skills assessment with ANMAC as opposed to a full skills assessment/IELTS/OET tests? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank you both for your advice. That's really encouraging to know you got your visa within 4 weeks of applying. My wife is degree qualified so hopefully that will make things somewhat easier. We'e going to proceed down the non-agent route and start cracking on. No doubt a myriad of posts will follow as we try to get our heads round things. One quick question - Not knowing much about the visa application process and where to get started is it best to do your registration before you apply for your visa or vice versa and will she/both of us need to sit an English test at some point? If so is that something we could be applying for now or should we wait until further on in the process? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi there. After much soul searching and 'shall we' or 'shan't we' conversations we have decided the time is now right to pursue our dream of moving to Australia. This is our first step in the process and we are looking for any help/advice possible. (Apologies in advance for presumably asking the same old questions). I am a primary school teacher who has just started teaching early years (4 years experience), while my wife is a recovery nurse who has been qualified since 2001. We have 2 daughters, one 6 and the other 1, and have friends who are currently living on the outskirts of Noosa who would be in a position to help us once we got out there. We are aware my wife will have a better chance of securing work than I will initially, but are not really sure about the best way to approach applying for visas etc, or even which visa to go for. We're hoping to avoid having to use a migration agent if possible, but aren't totally averse to it if it speeds the process up. Any help, tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Many thanks for the advice. We'll start trawling the forums. So do you know if it would it be possible to get recruited with UK qualifications (3 year degree and PGCE) and experience, for one of these rural teaching roles?
  9. Hi there, We are taking our first tentative steps at looking at whether it's possible with our skills (primary school teacher and nurse) to get out to Oz. We've backpacked/worked for a year back in 2002/3 and fell in love with the place. Now there's our 5-year-old to add to the equation. We both want/need to work and while demand for nursing seems a constant, we're not sure what the deal is in relation to primary school teachers. Can anybody help - or point us in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
