  1. I heard back from CPA they are not able to offer any clarification on whether CIMA is assessed at 10 or 15 points nor at what point work experience could be considered. There suggestion was a Agent or contacting immigratiom directly. I suspect Immigration will just defer me back to an agent. Soooooo either need to concede and use an agent which I was not planning to do or just assume a worst case scenario of CIMA be 10 points and not enough post qualification expierence. IELTS here is come.
  2. Hi Richselina we had spoke about other areas but for some reason we keep getting back onto Perth. I am struggling to find time at the moment because work is slammed to sit down and do a proper research session. I am hoping that as I am a Management Accountant rather than strictly finance that there will be a demand for those skills in SME Business, also a little bit hoping that it won't intact hinder me. As I said my worst nightmare is moving out and not finding work, the temp market does appear pretty strong though.
  3. Thanks all for the responses. I need to sit down now and workout the financial side out ala reality check from Wanted down under. think the next week Google will be my friend.
  4. Thanks all, seems my best bet is to finish off this exercise this month and if we decide it is what we definitely want pursue the points through IELTS. I was aware that accountant was rumoured to be dropped from SOL, this is what spurred me into action. My other concern is that if this is dropped is it to say there is no longer a demand? My worst nightmare would be to put my family through a move and then on other end not find work. I agree youngfreewild it would be good to mooch information off eachother lol. Hope your application goes well.
  5. Hello all, I am new to the boards, so just wanted to introduce myself and tap you up for some information. My name is Patrick, 31, I am a CIMA Qualified accountant, I have held my Associate status since Dec 2013. Myself, wife and baby boy are considering making a move over to Perth in the next couple of years. Having actively discussed this for nearly four years now we are spending the month gathering as much information as possible in order to aid a final decision. Having reviewed the requirements for a 189 VISA, I have suddenly become aware that my qualification alone may not be enough. I have emailed CPA in London to gain clarity on how many points the CIMA Qualification is worth, have read some places it is seen as the Bachelors Equivalent meaning 15 points and some that is just the other appropriate qualification worth 10 points. My CIMA is not backed by a degree as I gained entry onto the professional qualification via completing AAT. I know there is a reciprocal agreement between CIMA and CPA which can include the skills assessment as part of the application, form what I have read on CPA website normally there are no problems passing CIMA associates. What surprised me is even though Management Accountant is on the SOL (for the moment at least) it is still quite difficult to rack up points. Fortunately I am in the correct age bracket to obtain a full 30 points, optimistically 15 for CIMA, I planned to do an IELTS hoping to achieve a proficiency for 10 further points. The other factor I am seeking clarity on is experience, the points system states 3 years at time of invitation, how is the gaged? I have post qualification experience of a little over 1 year but have been an accountant/management accountant for 4 years, prior to this I had 5 years as a ledger clerk. If either CIMA is not worth 15 points or pre qualification experience not valid then I will not have enough points. My wife is a civil servant and not on the SOL list, what other options are there for meeting the points requirements? It may be a case of waiting out until I have three years expierence post qualification but I worry 221112 will not be on the SOL by then. I appreciate any feedback you can offer, especially interested in hearing from Accountants already in Perth. Other than that just wanted to say hi again, I hope this is the first of many posts.
