Yes, 2 years of WHV then bridging on to 457. I'll have to check if the WHV count towards the 4 years as my 457 was just over 2 years.

Hi all, I arrived on a WHV back in October 2010. I transferred on to 457 visa in 22/11/2012. I gained PR on 15 May 2015. Am i correct in thing i can apply for citizenship 12 months after gaining my PR (16 May 2016)? Thanks for any help. Olly

So, I'm sponsored as a Mechanical Drafts person. I completed a Advanced Modern Apprenticeship In Engineering (4 years lathe and milling operation, with arc and oxy-acetylene welding) and a BTEC HNC I also have a BSc in engineering subjects. I doubt the DIAC would take any of the above into account when giving me a Permanent Residency visa. Is Recognition of my trade skill good idea considering i'm not sponsored in an occupation that uses them? Thanks Olly

Very Stormy, I'm pretty sure the only route to go then is a skills assessment. I will look into it. Have you any first hand experience of dealing with TRA?

Although my skills are on the SOL. I'm more worried to see if the business gets through the slow period we're experiencing. I will have to start my 2 years again if my current employment period doesn't make the two years.

I'm actually employed as a draftsman. I have no previous skills as a draftsman, so I guessed I wouldn't use that occupation, to be assessed.

The advice I've received suggests it easier to see the two years out and save some cash. I'm a fitter/turner, machinist toolmaker. I have welding qualifications too. All my skills are on the SOL. I've heard bad press about TRA being pedantic. Any advice Tickled Pink?

Anyone else closing in on the 2 years before PR application? I hope its a smooth process.
