  1. Unless I am reading the time table wrong, (and i am anal when it comes to things like that ) its 1hr 12m mostly in the morning with no change from Woy Woy. Wont be driving parking, but cycling/running to the station (yes I am mad and get sweaty) But take your point that the 2 need weighing up.
  2. Thanks all, The trains times from Woy woy are 1hr 12m with no changes and run to central or Townhall every 10 or so minutes in the rush hour. This is the same as my commute today as we live in deepest Sussex on a nice slow line in to Bridge. I have to say I have always commuted by train when possible and actually dont mind the squashed in bit. I regularly work ön the blackberry and Ipad wedged in for the first 25 mins of my journey. Although starting as far out as I do I always get a seat in the morning. Our priority is a change of location i.e beach, warmer etc rather than commute minimising I will be working in the CBD in Financial services as a Manager in Finance, probably earning between $120-$140k + super. unless i contract which will be a little more. We would like to stay as we are with my wife being a full time mum for the time being, and not sinking all our money into a property, hence the longer distance/cheaper areas. looking at Engadine it doesnt seem for us. but tempted by Bulli etc as an Umina alternative. Sallykay will PM you as Umina is still winning and be good to meet up.
  3. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts
  4. Hi there, me my husband and little girl are moving to Australia NSW in August/September. My husband will have to work in the centre of Sydney, but as I will be at home with my daughter, we won't be able to afford Sydney prices. After extensive research we have pinpointed 2 specific areas Umina Beach and Wollongong. My husband prefers Wollongong and I prefer Umina Beach.. wherever we go, my husband will have to catch the train into Sydney, daily, so we need to be near a station. The commute won't be an issue as he has to do it in the UK and he can work on the train, but he does not want to drive.. I just wondered if anybody has had the same dilemma with these particular areas and what was the outcome and your experiences living in those areas. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  5. haha thats not bad, had heard about the beds too we have being umming and erring about them.
  6. That is a crazy coincidence! Thanks for the info kinda what we had thought to do whilst house hunting. We are sendng all our stuff we think, getting a quote at the mo, will wait and see how much the piano is though - very heavy! Mine field it is, and not just houses. PM me if you want to chat more.
  7. Thanks SallyKay we will definately take you up on that! It does sound lovely there. Sounds like you have family there but was wondering if you had any nfo about finding a property? We have just sold up here in Sussex and woud be looking to buy, but clearly would probaby need to find a short term let while we look. Any ideas/contacts?
  8. Thanks SallyKay we will definately take you up on that! It does sound lovely there.
  9. Hi we have looked into various areas in Central coast, being near to WOY WOY station is a must as will be working in the CBD. Having read up on Umina, Ettalong, Blackwell and Woy Woy we kinda liked Umina the best, but wanted an up to date view of someone who has moved there. The train from Woy Woy is 75 mins plus getting to station and work the other end. Similar to my commute into London now.
  10. Hi There we are coming to Oz in Sept and are considering moving to Umina Beach. There will be my wife and I and our 6 year old daughter, and eventually 2 dogs. We are hoping to get some advice on what its like living there and in particular what Umina Beach Public school is like.
  11. anybody can give any advice or share any experiences of living in Figtree Wollongong and commuting into Sydney CBD? thanx
  12. ok great. How long can it take to buy roughly? Thanks
  13. Hi, me, my husband and little girl and eventually 2 small dogs are moving in September to Australia. We have sold our home in the UK and my husband is currently looking for work in Sydney. We are still unsure if to live in a flat in Sydney or move to Umina Beach, central coast, or Wollongong, where we would get a house, but my husband will have to commute...Major dilemma. If we were to live in Sydney we would like to move to coogee beach or Mosman, where we would probably be able only to rent, as it is so expensive. If we went for Wollongong or Umina, we would be able go afford to buy a house, but we were wondering if to buy a home without actually viewing it, so we can move in immediately including pets. Can anybody share their own experience and give us some advice? Thanks
