  1. Hi, I am currently in the UK preparing to move to Australia in September. I have some shares held in the UK that I want to sell to put a deposit on a property in Australia and I am looking at the best way to do this. In the UK I can use my CG Threshold of 11,100GBP either side of a financial year and then split the rest in 2 and pay tax on the rest. Unfortunatly my partner and I aren't married yet so I can't gift her anything. I wondered if I only took the 22,200 from share sales to Australia and left the rest as shares in the UK, what are the rates in Australia? When I am there I can expect to earn $80,000 p/year roughly if that helps. I am just looking at the most economical way of doing it between UK vs Australia. Thanks very much for your help in advance
  2. Hi Guys, I was wondering if you could shed some light on what I should do next? I have just found out I have had my 100 visa accepted which is great news, however I have never received any confirmation. I only found out when i emailed my CO about applying for a tourist visa to enter Australia for Christmas. I called the European centre and they informed me the visa was granted 2 weeks ago and an email sent, however i didn't receive anything (we made sure to check that the address was correct). She gave me a grant number to put into VEVO, however that didn't work as it said it didn't recognise it. When I asked about sending the email again she seemed a bit hesitant, but surely I need this paperwork to show employers/banks etc of my visa conditions. Is it worth contacting my CO again or try and sort out with the European centre again? My application was made in paper form so I have no immi account. Thanks in advance for any advice
  3. Thank you for your replies, I will Definatly chase up the typo! Regarding who it was from, it is signed with a name and senior immigration officer from dibp. I thought I would give the European centre a call and run it by them. Thanks again
  4. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on an email I have just received. My partner and I applied for the 309/100 visa at the end of June at the London consulate and I have just received an email confirming receipt of my application. On that email it states that Section 1 is for further information required and Section 2 is for health and character checks. Under this it just states processing times of at least 10-14 months and that I have 70 days to complete these checks. It then just goes straight to the health and character checks in bold type and gives me details and my HAP ID. Does this mean they need no further information regarding the evidence etc on my application and just the health and character checks? Secondly am I correct in thinking that once the health and character checks are completed I have to enter Australia within a year, providing the application is successful? Lastly they spelt my first name incorrectly on the email, will this just be a typo or will I have to contact them and tell them that its wrong in case the 2 names don't add up? Thank you for your time and advice in advance!
  5. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help answer a few questions I have regarding applying for the 309 visa. I am British and my partner is Australian, we have been living together for a year by ourselves and 3.5 years with my family. We have been through the de facto process in the UK before and have been successful, however we both want to return to Australia now. We have joint bank accounts, joint leases and utility bills, stat decs from Australian friends and family etc. We are aiming to submit an application in July and from processing times are looking at a 12 month offshore waiting period. We are both keen on doing a bit of travel before we get back to Australia and wondered if we needed to be back at our UK address to pick up any documents or if I can be in say Japan when we get a verdict and enter that way and have any paperwork from our application sent back to my parents in the UK? Regarding Police checks, can you front load your application with a UK police check or is it best to wait until requested to complete the police and medical checks? Thanks very much in advance for any advice that can be given.
