  2. HI folks, I'm an Australian Citizen and been here 16years from the UK (born there) I have a son from a previous relationship who livesin the UK, and is 21 years old, he has just qualified as car mechanic he alsohas a partner who is a qualified Child Care worker (currently being assessed bythe ACECQA and we anticipate approval soon). Both a booked tocome to Queensland in June this year onworking Holiday visas. Ihave a job lined up with a Child CareCentre in Manly for his partner which isgood, but also I've got an agency interestedin my son as a car mechanic. Mychallenge is that the agency has concerns he can only work in one place for up to 6 months which means there not keen to take him on, I guess rightly so. So,I'm thinking that going the PR route may be the best option as they both would liketo live here – we where thinking of doing this inthe long term anyway. Doesanyone know how long the PR route takes nowadays and also recommend a Migration agent around the Redlands Queensland area? I also understand that both of there Occupations are in the Occupation Demand list. Thanksfor you advise folks in advance
  3. Ahh thanks so much Verystormy, he only quailifed late last year so that may make it a challenge, perhaps once he has worked here for a year then he will have made his two years in the business. What if he applies for a 457 visa will that need two years also of just employer sponsorship ? Cheers Mark
  4. HI thanks for taking the time out to ready this – Ok here we go this is the challenge I’m and Australian citizen (ex UK born) who lived here in Birkdale near Brisbane, and I have a 21 year old son that is coming over here with his partner on a 1 year working holiday visa (my son was not included on my application to move to Australia 16 years ago). My son is a recently qualified motor mechanic and has been in the industry 5 years. His partner works in childcare and is about to get her skills recognised through ACECQA in order to be able to work in childcare centres here when they both arrive July 1. So I’m reaching out to determine the best approach for him in terms of employment and getting his skills recognised as I’m not sure if he needs to do that before starting work here in Australia in the motor industry. He can get his skills recognised via the VETASSES skills assessment programme (almost $2000), but is this best approach, as long term they want to move here permanently. I hope this all makes sense and would value your advice. Cheers Mark
  5. Thanks flower just joined ... Hope the other half enjoys rugby. Was bloody freezing there last night... And loud because of the roof, but good anyway.
  6. We live in Birkdale( near Wellington point), moved here in December after 15 years in Sydney. I wish we had moved here when we first come to oz the because we love it here, great great area. Not enough Geordies though Cleveland is a great spot - we went to the bench last night had a great beer or two. Maybe we start the Redlands Pommie club
