ANMC How long for skills test?

Hi

Any nurses out there who have recently sent off for a skills assessment to ANMC ? Can anyone tell me how long they have had to wait?:unsure:

It will be 9 weeks tomorrow since i sent my application and i don't want to contact them if everyone is waiting this long.:SLEEP: Mind you parcelforce had my documents going all around England before being dispatched !

Mags I know you have ben waiting 8 weeks too so any answers would put our minds at rest!!

DID QNC REGISTRATION FIRST WHICH TOOK AN ETERNITY ANMC ONLY TOOK AROUND 4 WEEKS.

CONGRATS FOR PASSING IELTS - AM CONSIDERING DOING THIS MYSELF AS AM 5 POINTS SHORT FOR VISA SINCE SEPT 1ST,REAL PAIN. WAS IT DIFFICULT,HAVE HAD MIXED REPORTS,JUST COULDNT BARE IT IF FAILED,REALLY INSULTING TO HAVE TO DO IT IN FIRST PLACE!

If you do some practice tests you will be fine. It was mostly straight forward with the odd tricky bit. But the practice helps you get in the mindset of what they need.

Best wishes we are looking at settling near Brisbane so I need to do QNC next !!!

Yes, it's driving me mad too Brenda! :arghh:Gonna have to wait till Monday now to see if the postman has brought it!! We havve a new postmen and he's been doing his round differently. We used to get our mail at 8am, if not before. Now it's after 9.30! I got a letter from QNC this morning to say that the council has deemed my application as eligible to register and now I just have to pay AUS$ 90 licence fee. :spinny: Going to telehone them on Sunday night with my payment! I posted my QNC reg application 5 weeks ago, so it's been much quicker than I thought! Just wish my skills assessment would come back!!! I have a feeling that it's gonna take the full 10 weeks! I've just sent off for our police checks (think it was the end of last week, or the beginning of this?! It's been a bit of a blur!)

 

Anyway, good post Brenda....will be interesting to see how long others have had to wait. Who's gonna win the race Brenda!!! Hope you get yours first cause you've been waiting longer! And at least it means that mine shouldn'd be too far behind!

 

Don't worry about sitting the IELTS Nicola. As long as you do some practice material first so the format of the test is familar to you, and you don't panick, you should be fine! I know that myself, Brends & a few others on here were panicking a bit after sitting ours because some of the test was a bit confusing, but it turned out fine for everyone! It costs £95, bit of a hastle to get to (I had a 240 mile round trip), it feels like your back at school sitting exams, but it's defo worth the extra points!

Thanks guys,feeling slightly better,have seen some practice tests online,the listening one seems straight forward but some of the others can be a bit ambiguous and I am not the most logical person - still, keep reminding myself to look to the final goal!

Hi I am applying under skills visa 147 /146for permanent residency. I need 120 points but since 1st Sept the points awarded for English speaking have dropped by 5 so this is my shortfall and the only way to get the extra points is to sit the IELTS exam for extra 10 points thereby giving me 125 point or get job full time job offer for extra 5 points. Depending on visa I think the points vary,am not too sure as have only looked into the one I am going on. Check out the Australian immigration website visa section and this will tell you how many points you require. Sorry cant be of much more help

Siobhan,sorry the visa I am going out on is the 175 and not what I said before! Dont know where I got that from! Must be the stress - am desperately waiting on a reply hoping that someone will offer me a job. If you need to sit the IELTS exam look at their website which you can access if you type IELTS into Google. Good luck

You must be 10 weeks on Friday then Brenda? You can email and ask them then!! (Ali - they state in the acknowledgement letter not to contact them until 10 weeks after you posted your application - 10 weeks is SUCH a long time!!) I'll have to wait another week till I can :sad:. The QNC licence fee has now come off my credit card now, so I should be a Queensland registered nurse any day now!

 

Lets hope we don't have too much longer to wait....come on ANMC!

I'll just have to wait a bit longer before I can get my visa application sent. I only had 115 points without the IELTS. I have enough for my 175 now though! Did you do the online application? I've filled it out ready to go! I also invested in a scanner to scan all my documents.

Hope you visa doesn't take too long! Where are you heading? Have you applied for any jobs yet?

The IELTS test was not as bad as I expected.. just a tip... don't drift off in the speaking test!!!!!!!! it is rather boring but focus on the tape and the other components fairly straight forward!

Yes, I'm expecting mine to go the whole 10 weeks now! It feels like SO much longer than 9 weeks now....one more week? Not too bad I suppose. I'm planning on starting to apply for jobs once my visa application goes in. So where in Queensland are you heading? We're off to the Gold Coast. Absolutely love it there! You planning on going asap? As soon as we get our visa and house sold...we're off!

Have you been before and can you offer any words of encouragement and tell me that we will love it!!!!!

Wow, you've got some exciting plans ahead! Hope everything works out for you! It's great that your work are keeping your job open for you. But I'm sure you'll fall in love with the place and won't want to come back! I think if you travel about a bit it will help you to decide on an area. We were over on holiday in March/April and loved it! We stayed in Surfers Paradice & Bridgeman Downs in Brisbane. We like the look of Pacific Pines in the Gold Coast, but will decide nearer the time.

 

I'm a Children's nurse. Qualified 18 months ago, and have been working in a NNU, and a Surgical ward since. Love my job, and I'm looking forward to working in OZ!

Anyway, I'm off to bed now....work tomorrow! Keep in touch!

Oh, still nothing from ANMC in the post today!

 

 

I had my baby boy Joe in July. I also have Jack 6, Sophie 5 and Niamh 22 months. I am due back to work in February.

 

Hope you get that letter soon, I was soooooo excited when I got it and had all the application ready to go so just had to attach those details and press the send button!!! I have a penfriend in Queensland and she has tried to pursuade us to go there but I wouldn't cope with the heat but it is ideal as we will be able to holiday there.

If you work for the NHS it may be an option to take a career break - which will mean for 5 years you have a job to go back to if you find it's not for you. I know someone who took this option to go to New Zealand - loved it and then just informed the trust that she would not be returning and terminated her employement.

Thanks for that Ali - think I'll look into that. Might be a safe option, just incase! But I'm sure that I'd never want to come back!

 

Wow Tracey - you've certainly got your hands full! I've got 2 daughters aged 10 & 13, and that's hard work at times! Do you work full-time? I work 12 hour shifts, full-time here, and it's hard work trying to get the balance between work and family life at times. I'm hoping to only have to work 30 hours in Oz, but will just depend on our circumstances. You'll love your holidays in Queensland! I keep thinking that we'll never have to go abroad for our hols again once we're there! Think it would feel like you're away on holiday even if you have a few days off there! Bliss!

9 weeks and 6 days !!! Going slightly mad:twitcy:, perhaps this is practice at waiting for CO and visa:huh:

Emailed them sunday and said that they should forward application to QNC if I am sucessful and could they let me know if i had passed assessment. They emailed me back to say they had expressed it overnight ...but didn't say if I had passed ??? so still waiting.

Queensland have a work force website with loads of jobs for nurses but I think they need you further along with visa and a date you are coming.

QNC also interviewing in the Uk march/April look at RCN bulletin nearer the time for details.

Hi, is the QNC the state registration? I hoping to go to Perth, got ANMC, took about six-eight weeks. Do you think I should apply to Western Australia nursing board now? hoping to go in June. how come state reg takes so long. Sorry if seem a bit stupid!
