Guest phillipbirchall
Hi Guys, My girlfriend (Australian Citizen) and I (British Citizen) have been living together in the UK for the last couple of years and are now planning to migrate to Australia under a defacto partner visa. I have been the main bread winner and have proof I can support myself and my girlfriend as I have sufficient savings (though not in a joint account). However from what I understand as my girlfriend is the sponsor, she is the one who has to provide proof that she can financially suppport me. I can't find information on circumstances where applicants can support themselves and I am concerned that my application will be rejected as it's a stated requirement of the application that the sponsor must have proof of financial support (which she currently does not). Does anyone know anything about this or has anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks

Guest Guest31881
My wife sponsored me, dont worry about how much your partner earns or has in the bank, The sponsor is responsibly for you if you hit hard times. My wife was not working, I am on a NHS pension. visa issued with no problems.....
Quinkla
I was sponsored by my wife who didn't have an income. I had some money and a job offer - that was plenty enough for DIAC.
