benj1980
I am looking at the possibility of a 475 visa in SA. Does anyone know of the drawbacks of this? I am aware that this is a 3 year regional visa. Do you need guaranteed employment and are you restricted in SA, as this is all deemed regional? Any advice is gratefully received!! WIandVAinWA
dear benji1980, 475 is a very restricted visa and it costs like a 176 or 175. Everything Millie wrote is absolute correct. Be careful and read all info provided in this forum and here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/475/ My OH and I spent our last summer holiday reading each paragraph very very carefully and in the end we suggest to our agent what to do with our application ,,,, !!!!! First step : be sure you can get a state sponsorship there and also check Ielts result required in that SA. Good luck
benj1980
Hi guys and thanks. The burning question I have I guess is that the whole state of SA is deemed as regional and therefore I have not seen any specific restrictions of places to live. Having said that I would be happy to live outside of Adelaide in any case providing I could find some sort of work. Like MillieMollie I am a teacher but would look at other occupations to pay the bills! I guess these questions have all stemmed from my IELTS result, 8.5 overall, but a 7 in writing (I knew I wrote twoddle!) I am planning to have another go at the test and have a regional visa as a fallback option (to maybe take the pressure off a bit!!) I am still annoyed with my writing score, I am currently completing a Masters and they have never complained about my writing style, to be fair I am doing quite well!! Anyway, end of rant... If it were me I would keep taking the test to get an 8 in all the sections. That way you will have no restrictions on your visa or residency. This was not an option for me as I already had the 8s but still not enough points - over age 40 is hard to get visa points. I wouldn't fall back on a 475 if I had other options Good luck Millie x

I really don't want to get into a pool process of you don't know where you stand from one week to the next. The next test could be key I guess... Kazzarazza
Hi benj1980. The whole of SA is classed as regional for visa purposes. You can live in the city centre of Adelaide if you wish. Have you also joined the Poms in Oz sister forum - www.pomsinadelaide.com ? There are loads of members on there who have entered on the same visa and successfully gone on to get their PR and/or citizenship. I'm sure you'd get lots of good advice relevant to living and working in SA. Meeting the conditions is not hard as long as you find work. It does not have to be your chosen profession and you can even be self-employed. The only time the 475 would cause problems is if you wanted to move to another state to live - it would have to be a regional area in that other state. You couldn't, for example, live in Sydney or Melbourne on that visa. Good luck, Kazza

benj1980
Ok so I popped out to see my uncle in Perth and he wants to sponsor me, I didn't think that this was a possibility as there were no points on offer. However on a 475 visa you get 10 points for a relative sponsor! Which would give me the magic 65. The regional aspect once again states 'anywhere.' Can anyone clarify this for me?!! What is the process time for a relative sponsor like?! Any ideas?! I am thinking of the July 1st deadline!!
lebourvellec
Relative sponsor for 475 - you can work anywhere including Perth for WA. The processing time is longer for Family Sponsor but least you will get your application before July. Cat 4 taking about 6 months to get a CO currently. You say you are a teacher - therefore you need to see if your occupation is on SOL 1, (if on SOL2 you will require SS). Another thing with 475 if you add sny secondary applicants on your visa (partner - dependent child) - it costs the same as the original visa application. Just the standard fee of $2700 or whatever it was Millie

benj1980
I am willing to give it a bash, Mrs J loved WA so who am I to complain? If my uncle gets his end sorted do I just apply for GSM and have his 1277 relative sponsor in with the application? This relative sponsor process is all new to me!! Best check the forums!!
