Candygirl
Hi, I have just received a quote from a pet shipping co in Madrid and they have quoted €5,970 for my two small dogs to go Madrid-Dubai-Perth. This is not including the quarantine. I don't know whether this is reasonable or not. There are not a lot of people here in Spain specialised in pet handling to Oz. If you don't mind, would you let me know how much your quotes were from the UK? It may prove more cost effective for us and the dogs leave from the UK rather than Spain. Thanks in advance. JoandJon
Shipping and AQIS permit (excluding vets costs and quarantine costs in Oz) cost us ~£2500 for one dog (Satch is a labrador though, so not the smallest of creatures And it was back in October last year.. Your best bet is to chat to a UK travel agent and see if they can suggest something for you - you'll need to make sure it's ok to do it that way and I haven't a clue I'm afraid. Maybe give Bob or his team a call or an Email with the measurements for your pups? Good luck!
Candygirl
Thanks JoandJon, With the exchange rates, I think that is about the same then. I have a Beagle and a Terrier. The quote was based on their measurements.
JoandJon
It could still be worth giving a UK agent a call to check - Satch is a lot bigger than your dogs and the price is based upon volume of their crates. If they're good they'll know straight away what your options are and be able to help!
Guest James W
We used Transfur (based in Horsham, Sussex) - speak to Andy (the owner) he may be able to help you. We shipped 2 cats from the UK and it cost £1500 for their services & then quarantine on top. (I know cats are cheaper as it's the volume the pet carrier takes uk on the plane you are charged for) Best of luck
Candygirl
Thanks for the replies. Contacted Bob at PetAir and have a better quote. Gotta laugh we measured the length of the dogs, including their tails - there's one born every minute!
JoandJon
Measuring Satch was hilarious, Petair have some good tips, but they weren't quite Satchproof!! Every time we tried to do a height measurement she'd lie down and roll over,..... We ended up using a combination of 3 people, treats and lots of extra measurements in her 'standard' positions of lying down 'humphing'. But we got there in the end
Guest sallyann7
Hi, We have two Border Terriers, one's really small. We been quoted £1,800 for both to fly to Perth, from Heathrow, this is not including quarantine, and all the tests and permits before hand. We are using a company in Colchester, Par Air. http://www.parair.co.uk. They have been very helpful answering all our questions. You can do an on-line quote through their web site. Hope this is helpfull.
Candygirl
Thank you. I have asked them for a quote. Their quote seems very competitive.
