Whooping cough vaccination for adults on a reccie?

I filled in the form at our doctors for holiday vaccinations ready for our trip to Oz at the end of the month. The nurse called today telling me, my husband, eldest son and I all need to have the whooping cough vaccine due to the outbreak in Australia. Its not covered on the NHS and would be done privately but I am just wondering how many people bothered with this vaccine booster before they entered Oz? The rest of the kids are covered, os I'm in two minds whether to bother.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you're going to move in the next 7 years it's probably worth doing (7 years being roughly who long the vaccine lasts).

There is an epidemic here and it is a nasty disease, dangerous for those with weakened immune systems. Most states here offer free boosters to new parents, unfortunately I don't think the majority of adults realise that they need boosters!

You can get it combined with a tetanus booster (in Australia at least) which is handy. Bear in mind you'd have to pay for it in Australia so it might be cheaper to do in the uk?

Someone at work has just come back from having whooping cough despite being vaccinated as a baby so you can get it as an adult. It will be cheaper to get the vaccine in the UK.

That's right, you need a booster about every 7 years (which they don't generally seem to tell people unless they're parents of newborns)!!!
