1 week to make massive decision!!

Hi all,

My husband and I were researching our trip to Oz when we thought about actually coming over to work for a year or two. So with that in mind, I applied for a physio job and have been offered it. We now have a week to make a massive decision and would appreciate any help or advice on anything!!!

My husband is a coaching golf pro so would have to apply once over there to join the Australian PGA. Does anyone have any knowledge on this. We're also assuming that he would be on my sponsored visa which would enable him to work out there. I have been offered an MSK job in a private clinic in Warragul about an hour outside of Melbourne. It seems a really good job and the people there seem lovely. Is it too good an opportunity to miss? We'd ideally be out for at least 1-2yrs to make the most of it and also to cover our costs.

I have so many seemingly silly questions that I'm sure I could find answers to but there are so many topics on here!! We have a flat full of things that we'll put into storage over here, so did others just go out there with suitcases and gradually buy bits they needed? Also, what did everyone do with their cars? We both bought cars 2yrs ago (new) and wonder if it worth selling them here and buying over in Oz or shipping them over?

Also does anyone know if we have to pay any tax over here or not? Do we get double tax relief? So confusing and we are researching as much as possible as quickly as possible!!

I'd really love to hear from those that have taken the plunge that can offer us advice and those in a similar situation for support.

Look forward to hearing from you all!!

Thanks so much

I'd say go for it! Most of us here on PIO would jump at a chance like that - I know I certainly would!

Selling your cars before you go might be easier due to the processes and costs involved in shipping them over. There's plenty of threads on here about shipping cars which you could have a read through.

Hi guys,

Thanks you so much for your prompt replies and apologies for my lack of response. I'm afraid I have been a bit under the weather and lost my voice! Which made things hard to call friends and family to discuss things with them!! Anyway I have chatted to my family and they have all said much the same 'go for it!'.

It is still a big decision but I think we are both eager to take the opportunity with both hands while we don't have commitments or we may regret it.

Does anyone know anything about the golfing profession out there? My husband is a coaching golf pro over here so will have to pass a playing test when we get over there before being able to view and apply for jobs. Does anyone know of anyone in profession and how jobs are in this field?

Thank you so much

Hi guys,

Well we are now making plans and packing up to go over first week of June. It was all hanging on my registrations on being a physio so we're really pleased now that we can look forward to going over there and get ourselves settled in. God luck to everyone going through a similar process, just keep your head up and keep smiling while you go through the mountain of paperwork!!

Thanks for your help and encouragement. xx

With regards to your hubbys job as a golf pro he should be entitled to his own visa aswell as able to work on yours. It should fall under the category of *Specialist sporting visa* I looked into getting one as a pro skydiver which is not listed at all but as its specialist and is relativley easy to get as long as you have docs to back it up. I ended up going to USA instead which was harder to get a visa for but still was accepted.

I have many friends that live in OZ and NZ on a sporting visa.
