Guest will4298
I'm sure it's been asked before but i can't seem to find it anywhere. Just to get a general scope of how much it will cost to move to Oz; does anyone have a rough breakdown? I'm talking about from day one of deciding to apply for the visa (ours will be a 175) to the day you arrive for things such as rental property and what not, to include things like modest shipping costs, not a 40 ft container. It's just to see how hardcore we should be saving, we've already got an idea that it will go into the 10s of thousands, for some reason.... Sorry for bashing loads of questions on this forum but it's full of people with amazing experiences that can answer them! Thanks!

I seem to be getting left out haha. Yeah, it's me and the missus we have a small 1 bed flat and all we would be taking is a 43" TV washing machine and possibly bed and sofas, the last two we're not worried about. We're looking at Melbourne. Are the prices you've put down including things like lawyer fees etc? Thanks again!
Guest guest57545
I was sponsored by a company i have worked for in the past. They paid for and got me a 457 visa so there were no costs there. I had a modest relocation package of $1600 Because of the exchange rate we tried to do it as cheap as we could, our car is a 12 year old falcon and the flat was the cheapest 1 bedder in Manly! I would think that $20000 would be very comfortable but remember thats 13700 GBP at the moment when usually (historically) it would have been 9000 GBP. We both started working ASAP and IMO thats the way to do it because once you are earning dollars the exchange rate is irrelevant!! we just shipped clothes, shoes, snowboarding gear, around 12 ft^3, sofas and bed would be pricey, we got a furnished flat to avoid the costs but two drawbacks with that are much lower 'home living standard' than we had in UK and they can be hard to find in Sydney and, reading this forum, Melbourne Best wishes with move, when are you thinking of heading over? Guest SupportPants
For us : (GBP) 3600 for the visas (we used an agent) 1500 for the flights (for two) 6000 car (Honda CRV) 2400 6 week rent bond 1600 4 weeks rent upfront 2000 container for all possessions Around 17000 pounds to get here and get established from the day we applied for our visas (unsponsored). When we came the exchange rate was 2.5 however, so things were much less expensive - then probably about 11000 pounds
