Guest Jasp
My son has just returned from UK. This time around he has had to come out on a holiday visa (has already had a working holiday visa and so cannot obtain another). We read on the immigration site that it may be possible for him to transfer to a student visa if he applies and is accepted on a suitable course. we know about bridging visa etc BUT......does anyone know if this is possible or has been done before? Would a 'No Further Stay' condition on this holiday visa prevent any chance of applying to study here or changing his current visa? Many Thanks Jasp:biggrin:
connaust
If he is a British citizen then he assessed at AL1 for student visa meaning with confirmation of enrolment he can do visa onshore, and extendable.
Guest Jasp
Thank you Andrew - that's very helpful. However, we didn't know you cannot do a thing until you get the No Further Stay wiped off his visa. Seems we are taking steps backwards instead of forwards. Thanks tho. RockDr
I think if his tourist visa is multiple entry, he could pop over to NZ to put in his application, then come back in. He'd have to pop out again when it's granted.
connaust
You could simply ask DIAC direct? My understanding is that if you eligible to apply for student visa onshore, and granted the visa, upon grant the previous visa is cancelled?
