Hanbo24
Hubbie and I have had to yes to the initial checks (not worth anything I know) but before we spend out and got for the full on detailed checks for visas we have a few questions! 1 - Hubbie has an HGV license is it non transferable once in Oz?? Would that mean re take it as its a big part of his job so its improtant (hes an HGV mechanic) 2 - Does Australia require you to have a lump sum of money behind you before you get there?? 3 - Do people get mortages or just long term rent?? Do you need a large downpayment if you require a mortgage? (we know this is way forward planning but my hub is very cautious!) 4 - What order is best to do things in?? (all going to paln - ha ha!) ie sell house/get visas/get job etc Thanks alot - you're all great! Hannah & Pete
calNgary
Hi The HGV licence isnt a straight swap like the car licence so yes more tests would be involved before he is granted one. I think some visa's do ,but most of the more common ones dont, although the more you can bring the easier it will be for you. Most people rent for at leaset 6 months before looking to buy. Lots of mortgage lenders request a 10% deposit although i have heard of people paying only 5%. Personally id apply for the visa (it can take a while) whilst its being processed you can sell the house, look for work etc.. Obviously if you require sponsership looking for work would then come first,lol.. Hope this helps a bit Cal x
