Hi everyone, we have seen some very nice accommodation in the Helensvale area and were just wondering if anyone has any views on it and if there are any local hospitals within commute distance for employment??

Any views good and bad most welcome!!

Thanks Glenn

I am sure some of the members who live down there will be able to advise, but when we were in Melbourne we did chat to a lady and her family who lived in Helensvale and absolutely loved it, so much so it was an area we considered when we thought about moving to Queensland.

Hi Helensvale is a nice area and you hear very few negatives about it.

The closest public hospital would be the Gold Coast hospital.

Hi Glenn

We came out from Blackpool, Lancashire in October 2010, and we have lived in Helensvale for 9 months now, its a great place to live and close to everything you would need - Westfield shopping centre, Movie World, Wet n Wild, easy access to the freeway, 10 mins from a great safe Beach area at Paradise Point, and Surfers is 20 mins away so close enough to go for the day or just a few hours, Burleigh Heads another great beach / area is 30 mins away, and loads of places and things in-between.

My wife is a nurse and has worked for the private sector at Arundle (15 min drive) and now works for Queensland Health in Ashmore (also 15 mins drive), Gold Coast Hospital is in Southport about 15 - 20 mins drive, and she has also done some casual shifts at Robina Hospital which is a 20 min drive down the freewayand they are building a new hospital at Parkwood (15 mins away) which is due to be compleated this year , then the Gold Coast Hospital may close within a couple of years.

We initially rented in Bundell nr Surfers but found you could get a lot more property for your money in Helensvale. We have 2 boys one in Helensvale High School and one who has just started at Helensvale Primary both schools have a very good name for themselves.

If you would like any more info just PM us.

Shaun, Anne, Jamie (13 year old) & Bradley (4 Year old).

Hi there GlennNatt, would just like to endorse what the Egans have quoted on Helensvale! We have been here since we came out in Aug-2010 and just love the area as having it recommended by some old friends from the UK who themselves came here severn years ago and are still here! Our boys are 17 and 10 and both go to the local primary and highschools of both which we can not fault. I travel 64km(39-miles,one-way) a day up to Brisbane(Tingalpa) which takes me 40-mins each way leaving at 5am but prefer living down here than moving up nearer Brissie as prefer to go to the Gold-Coast and surrounding beaches during the week and weekends with the boys, especially with all the theme parks on your door-step the kids are never bored! Hope it all works out for you all, also quoteing another post from you Glenn you should have no probs getting a job as a prison-warder as a friend of ours( a scouser brickie who could,nt get any work!) got trained to be a officer up at a ladies prison up in Brissie(Nov-2011) as was told most of the warders were leaving to go up to the mines to earn wads of money! (maybe I ought to go??.LOL)

All the best Dave,Debs and the boys....

Living on the Gold Coast since 2010

We live on the Hope Island side of Helensvale and its great, we chose it for easy access to the freeway for work but its handy for Mt Tamborine, Sanctuary Cove, Paradise point etc too, and not to far from the real beaches like Main Beach & the Spit.

Helensvale is an older suburb but not too far from every thing. Lots of expats there ... and you can buy mistrels in the supermarket there mmmm:) I like the area.

Just bought a house in Helensvale, obviuosly 1 of the reasons we chose Helensvale is because it's called after me.... lol. No seriously we love Helensvale. Got everything you need. Granted it is older than some other areas but we like the established feel. I have heard the schools are good. We're not moving our kids yet only cos they are settled where they are, but they will be going to Helensvale High when they are old enough.

As already said, train into the city, beach close by,theme parks on your doorstep, westfields, harbour town close by. Cricket, golf, athletics, swimming, gymnastics clubs all local. Lots happening.
