The Pom Queen

Moving to a new home is extortionate

Recommended Posts

I just read that it costs 9,000gbp to move to a new home in the UK when you take into account, legal fees, stamp duty, mortgage charges etc, it's the same over here, but these are costs you tend to forget about when planning the move.

Thankfully stamp duty is cheaper in Queensland than in Victoria, why I have no idea. In fact I may start a thread on stamp duty so we can compare across the states.

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.

It will cost you 9 or 10k if your a snapper head. Shop around on the fees (well RDR http://www.fsa.gov.uk/about/what/rdr laws change this) and legal can be done for a set rate with some at 1500 to 2000 and the surveyor is 9ths useless because nothing they write can be used in a claim.

We couldn't move house even if our lives depended on it. God know how much in estate agent fees, deposit for a new place, stamp duty, other fees. No chance.
