Photgraph from the PIO member of the price list may be in the offing. I feel sorry for you poor buggers "up norf". In the Uk it's normally them "dawn sarf" that pay through the nose.

Next time I go I'll get one and copy it, or ask sir les as I think he tried it.

Thanks for sharing, it's not often you find cheap places like that to eat. I think at the restaurants up here it's something like $150 for a seafood platter gulp x Apart from the fast food joints the cheapest place for a meal is the casino or sizzler

For waht they offer............both in quality, non service, kids running around in nappies only, and dirty cutlery, I think Sizzler is the pits. I'll never frequent one again.

$240 here (at a particular restaurant, not chippy) would get you 4 sea foood platters consiting of a 3 tiered plate with mud crab and chillied sand crab on one tier, prawns on another, and calmari and fish/clam bites on another (all dressed with salad) with the holding plate at the bottom having excellent pasta salad/coleslaw and chips

I cant believe that Kate...here it would be around $50 absolute max, the Sizzlers here in WA are great I think, obviously not the best food/dining experience you've ever tasted/had but great value for what it is/kids love it and my local one is always clean.

I think it's 17.95 now for a salad bar here, which used to be reasonable considering that the beef and veggie soup had huge chunks of beef in it, the seafood salad had heaps of seafood filler in it, and each person got 2 rounds of "cheesy toast"

Now, the beef and veggie soup has been withdrawn and replaced with chicken water, the seafood salad is all celery with a hint of seafood filler, the spag bog is tomato sauce with some cooked beef grated into it, and you only get one cheesey toast (if they remember). Drinks are $4 (doubled in 12 months) and if you go after 7pm you're lucky to find any soup/desert bowls or cutlery that aren't wet from so-called washing. I don't blame the staff.............they're all run off their feet. I called for the manager last time because we waited 20 miniutes for them just to fetch us some plates, and she must have been all of 19 and we got her life story of how she had left school in yr 10, worked her way up, and that the company didn't deserve her..............we got a lecture on short staffing instead of an apology. Not to mention that some smart arse had rubbed the sprinkles and jelly beans that the kids put in their ice cream, with jalapenos.............there was kids screaming all over the place! I used to love the place but never again!

I got a pair of Triathlon shorts delivered from Wiggle.com last night. They are the 2XU brand so have a label "designed and tested in Australia" (although probably made in China). They were $155 in a shop here and $65 from wiggle. Took a week to get here from the UK.

So they must have been shipped from Oz to the UK, sold there for $65 and shipped back to me $90 cheaper than I can buy them over here. I'll bet wiggle are still making a profit too. Seems crazy doesn't it.

I bought a bra here it cost $95, I found the same brand and size in the UK and ordered 3 with delivery it came to $100.

Just bought a book for a family member it cost $35, I could have got it brand new in the UK for 6.25gbp plus received free delivery.

perhaps check the UK prices before buying here?

I paid 20p for a soft serve Mcdonalds ice-cream. Unfortunately, by the time it got here from the UK, it had melted and the packaging had partly disintegrated. The cone was all soggy too. I won't try that again!:biglaugh:

Lol it's like that up here you get an ice cream and by the time you get it back to the car you are covered

Funny you should mention bras but my wifes turned up this morning. She had ordered them from Sydney I think and they were $19 each. She noticed that they have taken 27 days to get here from Sydney though and the gear we ordered from wiggle in the UK took a week. Oh well, here now.

$19 I wish I could get a bra for that price, unfortunately big boob ladies have to pay ridiculous prices.

...anyway back to reality.

We took the kids out, 5 of us, had a top notch three course meal at an art gallery, including as much wine as I could drink, $110 total. $40 for the adults, $10 for the kids. I seem to remember taking the kids out for pizza in Edinburgh and not getting change from 50 quid (without booze).

Bloody Hell! :elvis:Barra is easily obtainable up there and yet it's $3 dearer than here, although I suspect the Barra down here is farmed. As for the Peas and Gravy. Took the same PIO'er to Montville yesterday which is classed as "arty farty" and "upmarket". On the menu where we had lunch in nice surroundings, was home made (famous) steak pie for $3.50 with mash, peas and/or gravy all at an extra 50cents each. She had (genuine Indian) tandoor chicken on a bed of salad for................I think it was $8.50 and was gobsmacked at it's "authenticity" and price. Jake and I had "full English" 2 sausages (which were nice as all Aussie sausages are) 2 large rashers of bacon, 2 potato "patties", 2 eggs, grilled tomato and 2 rounds of toast with mug of coffee for $17..............highest I've ever paid for similar.

Hmmm, I just emailed hubby to see if he wants to go to Gilhooleys for dinner tonight. For $14.95 the offer is either barra or steak and chips plus either 3 glasses of wine or 3 Coronas (3 drinks each??!!! - Nicola Sturgeon would never stand for this hahahaha!). I think that beats good ol' Wetherspoons, and I bet the food's better too. We'll see

I think it's because it's a tourist place so they up the prices.

We can get a full breakfast for $10 on the Esplanade but the place leaves a lot to be desired.

At the Casino you can get steak pie and chips for $10 but then it's silly because a soup is exactly the same price.

My husband gets all his bike stuff from either Wiggle or Chain Reaction, so much cheaper than buying anything here.

The PIO'er must've looked very palatable, sitting on a bed of salad eh?
