Guest Karenna Posted December 1, 2011 Share Posted December 1, 2011 Hi everyone, My husband and I are currently working in Perth, WA on our working holiday visas. My husband's company are going to sponsor us to stay. Can we apply straight for the 856 permanent visa or do we have to have a 457 visa first? Obviously we'd prefer to just go straight to permanent residency but not sure of the process. Any help and idea of timescales much appreciated. Also if we have a current visa application pending - are we both ok to continue working on our working holiday visas until we get it confirmed? RockDr Posted December 1, 2011 Share Posted December 1, 2011 which visa will depend on whether you currently qualify for the 856. Take a look on the immi.gov.au website, should give all the details of what you need to qualify. If you don't qualify right now, then going on a 457 for a couple of years can sometimes get you the extra experience you might need for the 856.
