Hi,

its not like the UK, just find a doctor if you need to see one, if you do not need to see one then wait until you do. remember you pay for every visit normally to see a doctor per person.

if you do not like the doctor you choose then just go to another next time you visit and when you move you go to a local doctor.

You do not register with a doctor in the same sense as you would in the UK,

I wouldn't worry about registering with anyone just yet if you're not sure where you're going to settle. You can make an appointment to see whichever doctor you want if the need arises and when you find where you're going to be long term then you can ask around for recommendations....

Thanks so much, that makes it easier

I am pregnant, so assume I need to see the Doctor to get registered at the hospital

My Daughter is also due her immunisations in a couple of weeks, would I mention that to them too?

Just to also check, do we need to make appointments at the Doctors when we want to see one, or just turn up?

Call them to make an appointment or you can pop in and check them out and make an appointment then. When's baby due?

It depends on the surgery. Some places you have to make appointments, others you just walk in and see the next available doctor.

Ahhhhh yes that makes a difference! Where are you now? I'd call the Community Midwives and see what they say www.cmwa.net.au/

For your little one you'll need to contact a child health centre. You should find your nearest one here http://www.health.wa.gov.au/services/category.cfm?Topic_ID=18

Thankyou so much for these links, I have just emailed the midwife centre & am about to contact the health services :notworthy:

Best thing is to find the nearest one to your house, then you wont have far to travel. If you dont like him/her then you can go to another one. Our doctor is great, close to the house and keeps to the appointed time. We left a previous one because of having too long to wait when turning up for appointments. If you get one who bulk bills then you dont pay anything ! Our doctor ticks all these boxes!
