We are wanting to apply for a skills assesment but would like to do so with a trusted & valuable organisation. Thank you for reading our post. helene73 Posted November 20, 2011 Share Posted November 20, 2011 The organisation you apply to depends on your skills, for example I am a hairdresser and could only be assessed by TRA with covers a lot of trades. How much do you think an assessment agency should charge on average? We are looking at moving to the Northern Territories at present as thats the only territory after my skilled occupation. Has anybody had experience of applying for jobs in OZ before+after having a full assessment. Are employers responding to applications in a more positive nature when you've had an assessment? Mr Fabricator Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Assessment is a good first step , My SS to WA cant proceed untill i receive my trade test results, other states allow you to obtain SS before your test , For agencies , im using visabureau , for my 176 visa its 2 payments of £1440 inc Vat , ( £2880 total ) im sure theirs cheeper but they have been fantastic thus far and worth every penny , answer emails virtually straight away , realy take the pressure off u and give u confidence .. they have a very good rep on here . Me and my family are in Darwin and have seen the amount of jobs advertised in the NT news each week so Im sure you wont have any problems. look on careerone.com.au and see if you can find anything related to your work as this seems to be the main source of adverts here, although there are others. You will need to do a bit of networking when you get here as its all about who you know, not what you know (as we have found out) and just taking each opportunity give to you. BAZ - ACS are exactly what I was looking for, thank you soooo much. I've just started filling in my assessment & attaching my qualification certificates. I've been told that you have to get everything spot on otherwise you'll waste time & money, so taking my time to make sure everything is right. I am currently studying a 4 year University Degree, I'm coming to the end of the 2nd year, due to finish January 2014. I doubt very much that this will count for much until I graduate. Hi there - you may have received more information since your last post but just in case I think you need to do a bit more research on the ACS assessment. If you don't yet have a degree you will need to demonstrate that you have the equivilent of an Australian degree with a record of prior learning. This is a lengthy document and must show a number of years experience in the field. It is no easy task - my husband didn't have a degree and it took him 3 months of writing reports and information to show his 8 years experience. It may have changed as he did his 2 years ago but I would suggest you use an agent who is skilled in your field to help. We used Peter at PTLabs Consulting, he specialises in the ACS/IT RPL and is brilliant. It will cost you but in our experience his advice was well worth it and invaluable. there are plenty of IT jobs here in Darwin, my hubby was offered 2 network jobs before we even arrived (although this was after we had PR). Before we had the visa most places didn't even reply. getting State Sponsorship is also a big task but take it one step at a time, do your research (the Territory is very different to most parts of Oz) and use an agent to make life easier and your dream happen faster.
