Guest Spindrifter Posted November 19, 2011 Hi All My old Sony laptop is getting a bit "creaky" so am about buying a new one here in the UK before we fly out late November. Is there anything I need to know regarding compatibility etc before going ahead? Secondly, what is the best way to get a temporary email address in Aus before we settle down. We shall be moving around WA quite a lot. Thanks
Quoll 6,358 Posted November 19, 2011 Get yourself a gmail account http://www.gmail.com - free, good spam filter, not likely to disappear any time soon and you wont need to keep changing it if you change providers. If you buy in UK then you might want to check whether it has an international warranty (I know that Apple does, for example). You might find they are actually cheaper to buy in Australia and you wont have to bother with all the palaver of finding new power cables with Aus plugs on them. I like my macbook I must admit but they are more expensive than the opposition - if I were to buy something now I would probably get a macbook air especially if I were doing lots of travelling
