Australia second best place in the world to live?

Recommended Posts

For the second year running, Australia has ranked second in the United Nation's 'Human Development Index'.

The index measures social and economic development based on several factors:

  • Life expectancy at birth / Health
  • Mean & expected years of schooling / Education
  • Gross national income per capita / Living Standards

Australia ranked narrowly behind the 'winner' - Norway, the same 2 countries ranking first and second last year as well.

The United Kingdom ranked 28th on the 2011 Human Development Index.
