Internships and VISAs?

Recommended Posts

Guest Foxx

Hey there PIO.

Just a quick question concerning VISAs for a student looking to do a sandwich year in Australia.

I'm studying mechanical engineering in Portsmouth, England. For my third year i'm looking at taking a year in practise for my degree over there (also known as an internship). One of my friends who is also thinking of taking a sandwich year abroad had recently said to me that it is extremely hard to do one in Australia due to the available VISAs and their rules. Apparently a working holiday visa requires that you do not work in the same business/company for more than 6 months. Is this true?

Also, what are the best VISA options to take if you want to have an internship over in Australia?

Thanks in advance guys! Appreciate the help as always!

I would speak to an agent about this, but if you can find a company that agrees to take you on, I would be surprised if you are not able to get some form of one year temporary visa that specifies you can only work in that role.
