what would you do? 175 vs. 176 issue

Recommended Posts

I have been working at the same job for years now - doing the exact same thing, but my assessing agency said that I am "qualified as of year X" - (the day I got my degree).

My problem is that I don't know if DIAC will look at it the same way or not. If DIAC agrees with my assessor, and they only count my experience from since I had my degree, then I'll have to wait until this coming May to get the full points (to complete the year)

OR.... I can go for State sponsorship ....what would you guys do?

State sponsorship as that gives you an extra 5 points which I assume you will need if you are short of work experience points. Plus it's a quicker visa than the 175

I know that for our visum they specifically asked for POST-QUALIFICATION work experience. So your agency -could- absolutely be right.

I'm not sure in which cases they also accept pre-qualification work experience.

Not sure if the info helps :)

well, 175 gives you more freedom to live where you want to live

but 176 is faster and apparently you need the points

if you would like to live in a state that would sponsor you, there is nothing wrong with SS.

If you want to move soon and are happy to live in a specific state then 176.

If you are happy to wait a while and are in no rush then 175.

From 175 application to citizen in just under 5 years.
