Rabies vaccs - but hoping to fly before Jan 12

Recommended Posts

Hi

My visa was granted yesterday and we're hoping to fly Oakley out before the changes on 1st Jan 2010. But I'm waiting on the import permit which I applied for last week, we can't book his flights/quarantine until we have this and I am worried about Sydney quarantine station being full when it comes to the point that we can actually book it.

So, I'm thinking that I'll take him to the vet tonight to get his rabies jab just in case we can't make it out there before the rule changes come in to play.

What I'm worried about is whether the fact that he has the rabies vaccs now, would that have any bearing on him being able to fly out before 1st Jan? I don't think it would but o/h has been questioning it and I just want to make sure!

Thanks

Julie

Hi Julie, you could always look at the other quarantine stations if Sydney is full.

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.

You can book a flight before the permit comes back, your agent should tell you that. If you have not got a flight date get one soon, practically no flights left in December now and few at end of November.

Currently Perth is full before Jan 2012, Melbourne is going to be full very soon, so Sydney is left and has never been filled yet, but we are all in trouble if it does. Getting the rabies vaccination done now is sensible as a back up and will not stop Oakley from travelling before Jan 2012

whatever you do and whoever you do it with - do it fast!

Thanks Bob. Maybe I picked them up wrong but I took it to be that we had to wait on the permit coming through. I'll get in touch with them again quick smart and hopefully get this sorted for before the 2012 changes.

Thanks again!

Julie

I think You need the permit to book quarantine, but not for flights.

Jo (Aussie), Jon (Pom on a 100 visa), Satch (the gorgeous viscous labrador) have now been joined by Siena Rose.

Does anyone have a spare instruction manual for a baby girl?

Hi, I spoke to the pet shippers a couple of days ago to sort our cat out for transit in December and he was more worried about the flight in December than the quarintine in Sydney so yes get the flight booked soon if you want your cat to go out then. As far as I could tell Sydeny is quite a big quarantine station so no problems with that bit so far!! Good Luck.
