Guest guest58851
Hey im 21, just moved here from the UK. Im living in Brisbane and just wondering if there was anyone out there roughly the same age who (without sounding sad) wants to start chatting and maybe socialising? Im finding it difficult to find a job at the moment and my thoughts are this is the only way im going to make new friends? Feeling really lonely lol Hope to hear from you Emily:biggrin:
Guest Phee
Hi Emily, I've been in Brisbane for nearly a year now and still haven't made any friends :0( I have a 14 month old son and people say when you have kids it's easier to make friends -it's not! I'm used to meeting friends at work or through nights out. So I've join this site in hoping to meet some friendly poms! I'm 27, from Southend in Essex, am married to an Aussie and lived in Dubai for 3 years before coming to Oz. We live in Bulimba currently but we are moving to The Gap in 7 weeks time. Where abouts do you live? Totally up to meet up with or without bubba. Just need to have some fun and a good natter with someone who replys! Lol Phee
Smackey
Hiya, I have met loads of lovely families through the 'Brisbannittes' facebook page, also, through my sons school too. He is always wanting to go on playdates or has parties to attend and its always good to chat to the other mums. I have also met a lovely friend through taking my daughter to her swimming lessons. It is more difficult when the children are younger but once they get into kindy or play groups etc then it can be easier to make friends. Once you get to the gap keep an eye out at local churches for playgroup dates (we did this and found a playgroup that was lovely and I'm not religious at all). Best of luck with your move, the gap isn't far from where I am in Fig Tree (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary) and would love to meet up with you for a coffee when you get here. Guest Phee
Hi Sharon, Thanks for your message. We have been going to a Playgroup at Bulimba uniting church since we arrived last year and even though the woman are lovely, none are keen to meet up other than on the Playgroup. Even joined another group but had the same problem. The chicks I've meet in Bulimba seem to be all the same - one reason why we are moving! Hoping for a more friendly feel at the gap. Would love to meet up once we have moved, although if your going to the Halloween meet up, we will be there! :0) Thanks for introducing me to the brisbanittes! :0) See you soon Phee :0)
