Never posted before, first forum i have ever registered to...

Im flying into Brisbane early january 2012!!! alone hopefully to find some carpentry work anywhere on the East coast. Im not sure of anything to be honest so im keeping a complete open mind and am willing to do any kind of work anywhere on the East coast. only Three months of crazy saving to go! A mate was supposed to come with me but cant get his backside into gear to save money and hes blown me out :(

Alone it is... Although im very nervous about it. I cant wait to get out there and meet people and just have an unbelievable time! Ive dreamt of being in Australia since i can remember!

Im mostly worried about finding the work...

Chhhheeeeeerrrsss ;)

Hi and welcome to the forum, I have moved your post in to the backpackers/WHV forum as this is where a lot of the members in your situation hang out.

Have a word with Anubis he is travelling alone and loves it.

I'm just back from 6 weeks travelling the east coast on my own. i was really nervous too but you'll have an awesome time. Make an effort to socialise in the communal areas of hostels and don't stay in private rooms! I met loads of people through organised trips (Whitsundays, Fraser Island, Cape Tribulation etc), it's a really friendly scene. There are always people around to talk to, especially Germans - my 13 year old GCSE came in really handy! Get stuck into the goon and you'll be grand!

Hi, don't worry about being on your own if you mix in with everyone you're bound to make some friends. Easier said than done as if I was on my own still i'd have been crapping myself about even getting to know randoms on the other side of the world! But it'll pay off. We're on the Sunny coast an hour from brisbane and it's great here. Good luck with the job hunt, maybe you could post a thread of your travels?
